So I have been thinking about this for a while, currently there really isn't any use of bark in the game but it could be used for giving different colour effects for tanned leathers even to dye cloth as well. It would require a change to the gathered bark mechanic slightly in that bark from different trees would need to be individual. This would allow guilds to aim for a guild colour for clothing and also allowe for some sneaky tactics also by making some clothing the colour of another guild. How this would be implemented is by use of adding a selected bark to the tub when tanning the leather and for cloth adding the cloth item, water and bark to the tanning tub.

this could be fun, as they might put more clothes... but, if this system is cool, realistic colours must be respected... like : NO BLACK ! black dyes were not discovered in the middle age and the only black they got was the black wool...

yes to dyes but only realistic !

I think this would work nicely. I'd been thinking about the bark as well, and had come up with the idea of making fires take kindling when you go to start them up. Larger pieces of wood, and even coal/charcoal, are difficult to get burning without something smaller or a lighter fluid.
So, I'd say this, and add in the idea that bark, branches, and torches can serve as kindling. (This will also highly increase the value of keeping a fire going at a workstation, rather than turning it on and off repeatedly.)
