Help for editing texture files?

Post by Valnuss » 16 Apr 2016, 12:42

Hi, I just wanted to edi/changet some textures in the game directory (*dds files). I am using photoshop cs6 and the nvidia dds plugin for it to read/write dds files.

My problem ist that I have NO experience in 3D-Stuff. I am just experienced with Photoshop (I was graphic designer). I never really worked with dds files and just wanted to try it out. Soon I noticed that there are several options to set when I read/write the file and I have no clue what I have to do to save the textures in a way that the game understand them as before.
It also seems that they lost their alpha channel/transparency when I open them (no matter what option I take. Is there some workaround for this problem?

This is how it looks when opening a *dds file:
texture1.jpg
texture1.jpg (23.33 KiB) Viewed 1476 times

This when I save it:
texture2.jpg
texture2.jpg (54.08 KiB) Viewed 1476 times

Can anyone help me with this?
