Hey guys so i really love this game but the skill tree drives me nuts. The unrealistic and sometimes silly progression that is. So i have been doing a little research trying to find a mod that opens the skill tree so that every skill can be progressed no matter what level the skill before is is at. So far i havent found a mod that does this. So I figured maye id try to make it happen. Now let me say that i have minimal moding experience so feel free to point out any newb mistakes im making. That being said here is what i have done so far...

I rented a server from Bluefang.

I edited the /data/skill_types.xml changing the "parent" values for all the skills to 0. both client and server side. which messed up the skill books layout for some reason.

I then tried to change the "group" value to set each line of skills as its own group. which did separate the skill lines into different pages but only the beginning skill shows up, non of the following skills.



I haven't tested weather the skills are actually unlocked in the game play or just messed up in the skill book i guess that's next... Anyone have any advice or a better direction to go to achieve this?

There is topic what-do-you-think-of-this-skill-reconfig-t14586/page20/#p59108 which describes how to alter skill tree, and contains test mod to update skill book.

In your case, when all skills have 0 parent, installing client-side skillbook mod should be enough to regroup skills.
