Can someone either explain to me or redirect me to another discussion explaining the whole alignment system in this game?

Here's the gist of it:

Murder, Knocking out other players, ect will lower your alignment, while prayer will raise it.

Alignment determines how much skill is lost on death, basically. The lower the alignment, the more skill is lost.
