Fishing?

Post by Setari » 03 Jan 2015, 22:02

I am playing bymyself to explore the tech tree and as such I now have like, 91 survival or something. I should be swimming in fish if it scaled with level... which it doesn't seem to. So I believe this is a bug?

If not, why is it like this and why is fishing in in the first place then?

Also if it's not going to be boosted by skill per level, then that needs to be in the skill description.

Fishing's passive is combined a bit with Hunting for:
"Max Q of resulting animal ingredients."

This is mostly seen from skinning the corpses of larger animals for the wild meat, bones, and potential alchemy components from wild animals (slaughtering Tamed Animals uses Procuration).

As for the actual fish, their quality is purely dependent upon the water you catch them in. Find some good quality type of Terrain, I personally prefer high quality Fertile Soil or Forest Soil, so that the area I spread the soil in will stand out against the sand areas better. Others will use sand to keep the terrain colors/patterns the same. You want 90+quality if you can.

Fishing in the water above these tiles will result in 80-100q fish. Fishing in "low quality" water reduces success rate of catching fish by quite a lot.

A high quality Fishing Pole also determines fish quality, as well as success rates of fishing.
