Hi guys!

I'm Michael from Austria, and i started play LiF in September 14.
We created us an own server (we are 6), and everyone levels up other skills. I'm leveling the farming-animal lore-procuration-cooking-tailoring part.

I have many problems, but only one question wich summarizes all, i hope you can help me:

I don't know how to catch bigger animals like cows, horses, pigs ... or to catch wild animals like a moose.
Actually i can't even see them no my map - not one of them.
What can i do about it?

I can catch small animals (hare & chicken) and can put them into coop. At the moment i use hare to create bone glue (1x hare --> 1x bones) and get fur to produce thin leather instead of putting them into coop.
Creating bone glues precedes very slowly in my case, because in average, when i place 5 snare traps, i get 3x chicken and 2x hare.
1x snare trap requires 10x wild plant fiber, so for 10 bones i need a minimum of 25x snare trap which means for 1x bone glue i have to collect 250x wild plant fiber, and you all know how time consuming this is.

If you guys have any ideas or comments, I'd ask you to leave them here.

I don't think you can catch bigger animals for now. You can kill moose and wolves and skin them for meat, leather and bones.

I like you had a similar problem. I was playing on a server that was animal free. I have since moved and upon killing my first moose received 50 animal bones. A virtual bonanza of bones as you well understand. If this is your server I would suggest you turn on whatever switch you need to populate it with animals.

Others have already mentioned that this is not currently in game yet.

But for your bone glue the easiest way to gather bones is hunting. Get a sling and some rocks and bag a moose. Then skin it with a knife, one moose is 50 bones if I recall correctly.

So.... I tracked a moose halfway across the island, then chased it back to my hamlet whilst hacking at it with my knife. Then discovered an axe is far more effective. Finally bringing the beast down and skinning it. Only to receive absolutely nothing. No leather. No bones. No meat. I could 'open' the carcass but nothing there.

Mildly frustrating to say the least.

Once you kill the animal, skin it then open it. If you skin it then pick up the dead animal all the items inside will be deleted. So make sure you skin and open.

Also a ranged weapon is much more effective as you can stand back far enough from the moose and it will not run away from you

All I need now is to work out why my chickens and and hares die of old age after a day.

If you can figure out who the gm is on your server you can go hunting for cows,bulls and horses. Find him and just keep whacking him with a shovel until he spawns an animal for you!!
