Idea to simplify the RPG

Post by Virdill » 18 Mar 2014, 19:56

Good evening to all

I am a lover of RPG's, and today i tried to imagine how it would be nice if playing a game such as LiF or otherwise flanked by some RPG mechanics.

So i squeezed the brain, and found a method easy to implement but very useful and effective in my opinion, is a phrase
(written above the head) that indicates what the player is doing at that moment, for example:

A player is trsportando hay as he heads for the cows affamante, and over the head could find a phrase like: "He's whistling *"

This could be written with a specific chat, and remains until the player finishes the action
In addition, to avoid having to write habitual actions or fast action, you could create a macro (for example: Ctrl + T / Y / U / etc ...) associated with actions such as "* Puts his hand on the weapon" that helps us understand to other people, that player is irritated, ecc...
Sorry for my bad English

Well that could all be done with emotes that could be triggered like voice commands in other games.
(hit a key like F1 then you got multiple categories to choose from "Attitude", "Threats", "Friendly Actions", "Requests", etc.

Would be awesome to have that as easy-to-access commands that could be used anytime.
I always hated having to type my actions because the game didn't allow much freedom of movement or expression.

Well, I'm in for visual emotes, like different animations, not so much about text that informs you what some one is doing.

Obvious, but the priorities are quite different for now, also with personal texts is much customizale, while the animations are vague and non-personal

I still prefer the written method and is easy to implement

I'm not against emotes but I am against written pop ups to accompany animations. The sound and movement of the animation should be enough to tell you whats happening.

I wouldn't want text over my head if I was hiding in a bush and either applied a bandage or unsheathed my sword.

Maybe I explained wrong  , what I meant is that the player will decide the phrase, and especially when it is visible or not, and will not be preset phrases associated with animations

It would be just as cool if you could whistle for real.
It could give you better mood and not decreasing stamina as fast for example.

since we'll have to type to chat and not have ingame voice for long, i totally support emotes with proper animations to show some basic intentions like:
- friendly greeting
- stand down / surrender
- lets trade
- angry / taunting (f.e. smashing weapon/fist on shield or chest)
- happy / laughing
- HELP
- peace
- im injured (toggle on/off limping and/or moaning)
- you fool
- way to go / good / thumbs up / clapping
- attack
- advance
- hold / stand ground
- retreat

if these could be mapped to the F-keys or such we would have some basic coms without the need to type it and also visible instantly to everybody. combined with cool animations and maybe even sound this would be a lot of fun as well! f.e. in star wars galaxies they were really well done and used a lot...

certainly something that should be looked at a later stage imo. +1

but i'm against any kind of textbubbles -1

As long as these animations leave you completely vulnerable to any attacks sure.

Shure for the most. maybe taunting with klicking it 10times in 1 sec. would leave the attacker stuned if the taunter's piety is high enough ;)

for the rest it would be your own fault to strike a pose with a sword in your face!
