LIF:YO vs. MMO?

Post by Vem » 13 Sep 2014, 18:46

So, i just realized that the MMO and YO are too different things... Will they cost the same? Can I only get LiF:MMO and not the other one? Also, I don't see the MMO on Steam... I'm not sure how this woks out. Can someone explain all of this to me, and also explain what the differences between the two are going to be o.O

A lot of people are confused about it, so there are a few threads you can check out.

But the easiest place to learn the difference is here:

Think of LiF:YO as a Minecraft version.
Mean while LiF:MMO still has some time before we'll see a release date.

From the way I understand it, is it's like this. YO are servers created by people that have admins that are players like DayZ/Arma/Minecraft servers. The MMO is 1 big server hosted by the guys making the game themselves and there are no player admins and etc its just like any other MMO. So basically the YO servers wil have 64 people per server and have the possibility of player made mods/server plug ins. While the MMO server will be one big persistent world with 10k+ players.

No one knows yet.

Yes.

Also, I don't see the MMO on Steam...

Yes, because it's still in a unstable pre-alpha version.

- LiF:YO will cost around 30€, while LiF:MMO character transfer ticket around 10-20€.
- You can donate and get access to alpha tests and guaranteed key for LiF:YO and LiF:MMO currency to purchase character transfer ticket.
- LiF:MMO is currently in pre-alpha stage of development and it may not appear sooner than end of 2016.
- The differences are explained in here: http://lifeisfeudal.com/LiFYO

FAQ has still left me fairly confused. Will it be two separate clients / games that need to be separately purchased? Or will it just be a matter of choosing an MMO official server vs a smaller player run server (Rust style)?

What will purchasing Steam early access give me? Is it a better deal for me to do this donate thing before Sept 19th?
Sometimes reading forums or global chat is like reading a book called "Baby's First Game Test". Does no one understand the concept of early access alpha testing? I swear, 'some people's children...'

It's two completely separate games.

Huh, seems a strange choice to fracture the community from the start.

Going to be interesting to see in launch when people try and join friends and have purchased the wrong client.

the MMO is still in development, won't be released for a good while :)

i guess eventually all players will leave LiF:YO for the MMO, exept for small guilds and groups of friends who want to play on a private customizable server (which is not possible in the MMO)
