49 times bigger... yep... but I don't understand how you can plan where you want to settle your community... I need to be in an area to say if it's good or not x)

You can imagine elevation, forest, claim ranges and field patches etc, I think thats enough to make basic plan, but yes for detailed planing we need ingame look :Yahoo!:

Alpha testing is closed haha.

Well, almost every islands on the map are big enough I think, but watch out, there are not a lot of trees on those islands, no / very low clay, and no iron except for crappy quality one. Before ships come out, being an island guild is a bad idea.

Sadly, I joined the alpha crew too late to run around the MMO server.

According to the devs though, different parts of the map will have limited/higher amounts of resources. Such as poor soil quality and limited trees in the south, but more copper/silver/gold; best soil fertility in the middle, and more trees/iron in the north.

None of which is implemented, as the focus is YO.

The map comparison excites me. Imagine all the cool base places to find.

I love desert areas, but no trees so I bet that would complicate things a bit. :Search:

Nope. "YO" is planned to release somewhat this fall.

Originally, as far as I recall, we alpha testers were promised the MMO was going to be coming this year but then the plan changed and the devs decided to make money with "YO" first, so the MMO release is rescheduled to somewhere in Summer / Autumn 2016, I believe.

Has there been any talk about when/how a closed beta would be coming or how to join that team?

Well, the first MMO tests you guys might join, as far as I know, will be sometime next year. But seeing how many alpha testers there are left.. I guess we might enter MMO at the same time.

Don't say that man. Hopefully Alpha testing for the MMO will start towards the end of the YO development cycle. that would put it at around October this year. Don't forget Bobik said the features developed for YO are also meant for the MMO, they just need to make the game stable for thousands of players. I don't see why they can't let like 50 of us into the MMO server to start testing things out.

It would also start generating hype for the MMO through the "alpha leaks" section. That was how hype for the game was generated in the first place.

Mmo testing is officially estimated to start around summer 2016, according to the LiF website and FAQ.

But if Bobik wants to let a select few (maybe myself included? :P) test early, I could see that being fun.

If I'm not mistaken that's the estimated start date for the Open Beta testing. I was referring to Closed Alpha testing (for the early donators with the yellow names).

Is that accurate? We got a statement from Bobik a while back to our group leader that 1 cell on the MMO map was 3 times larger than the YO map.

No. YO map = 3x3 km, MMO map = 21 x 21 km.. do the math, it means each cell on MMO is as large as one YO server.

Sad to see server 1 and server 43 will only be hosting a fraction of the server load with such small land masses.

Hopefully they will find some way to distribute server load effectively.

Has anyone in the community unlocked the server cap from 64, and seen if they can stress it up in the hundred+ range?

Well, considerin how the performance drops significantly when someone starts terraforming you don't need to unlock the servers to create stress.

It is impossible to go beyond 64 players. Or maybe it is but it is beyond the rules of modding.

MMO tester here, map is massive, huge. Only part of the map I'd say stay away from is the FAR northern islands. There is nothing there, just snow, that's it. That may change in the future, but they were basically arctic islands when I scouted them out.

Anything below those islands is pretty good though. Be warned, the great forest that borders the midlands from the north is thick, really thick. I predict lots of savages in those woods

We had over 100 in the starter cell back in the day, was no problem. The mmo is built for thousands of players from my understanding. LIF:YO was only built for a handful.

Somewhere on this website is a map that provides a rough example of the sizes of personal claims, towns, and the various guild claim sizes against the MMO map. I'll see if I can find it.....
