I'm not stating i do not like the idea. i am simply stating that the storing system will need an overhaul if this is implemented.
ox cart with 5000 stone as limit and capacity for 10 logs, would remove the need for any warehouse to be build ever. As it is probably more space efficient and you can move it if the area is full or not suited.
Let's place try placing it again in the here and now:
A horse cart, has a weight limit of 3000.
A horse cart, can carry 6 logs.
6 logs from a high quality oak, has a combined value of 7.200 wood.
7.200 into boards or billets already surpasses the capacity of a normal warehouse by 1.200, and combined with the 3.000, will total to a storing capacity of 10.200 stones, which is 2/3rds of the capacity of a large warehouse.
a storage of 10200 stones on space of 1x2 compared to 5000 on 3x4 or 15000 on a 5x9 is completely unbalanced as it is for processed resources.
Now, lets do this with an ox cart as you suggest, in the here and now.
10 logs from high quality oak, has a combined value of 12.000 wood.
This alone is 2.5 times the capacity of a regular warehouse and 4/5th the storage of a large warehouse.
Now we add the regular carrying weight of its inventory at 5.000.
This will total at 17.000 (17k) stones in weight. and is 2.000 (2k) more than a large warehouse.
As it is a 1x2 area (probably) it will fit 6x on the space of a warehouse which will equal 102.000 (102k) of processed billets or boards, and 22 times on the space of a large warehouse which equals 374.000 stones of processed woods.
I hope the math here shows you that this request as it is now, with the current game mechanic, is completely unrealistic.
