Storing Gear On Inaccessible Alts

Post by Ramaraunt » 02 Apr 2014, 20:16

I don't see any threads about this, so I'll make a new one.
I'm concerned that different groups in the game will store all their expensive gear on alts. If a town is raided by another kingdom, nothing is stopping the town from using logged off alts to protect their gear. I fear that the full looting aspect of this game will be dumbed down because of this. The game shop might as well sell unlootable chests for 10e each.

Maybe if you try logging off with an item over a certain value, you automatically drop it? This would be hard on people that are traveling, so maybe there could be an option for the gear to move to a special chest in your town when you log off? Sounds pretty harsh, but I can't think of anything better.

If you don't agree and have a different idea, go ahead and spit it out.

Your alt will cost 10€ afaik... so I don't know if that will be so viable.

Apart from that I think you should only be able to log out wearing clothes/armor/weapons. Other things you might hold in your hands should be stored elsewhere.

Correct, as Siegbert said moving each new character to the main island costs. Also you don't have black hole in pockets, so you can hold certain ammount of materials and items in your equipment, otherwise you will get overburdened. People will hide their most precious belongings in their chests placed on their personal claims just to be able to move freely.

Keep in mind also that pricing has not been determined yet.

So it depends on how much you can store on one character.

I guess if you store stuff on an alt, and then lost a town to an enemy kingdom, it would be kindof hard to get your stuff back if the alt was logged off within the town.

I suppose the character will not magically be lost to you :%)
When you log in again you'd still have your stuff but be on enemy territory, or maybe will be transfered to outside of the enemy town or to your home base.

Yeah,

Remember that they don't need to put it on an alt, just one alt with a personal claim, then they can give it to him and he can drop it on the claim.

If the alt is unguilded, then everything on the claim is protected. If claims allow you to give others permission to use them (assume they will) for the price of 10E you now have a perfectly safe "bank"

Not really. If the price is too low, everyone will do this and it will become a huge problem. If the price is high, this will become a pay to win feature. Of course, I thought it was possible to declare on anything, so its not like land claims are safe.
