Tonight, during a small exploration with my friend I came across a rather large base owned by some fairly hostile players...nothing really new here. My surprise came when I decided to flee (stow all equipped weapons) and sprint away from these fellows to avoid dying. They were all wearing full plate armor (Fancy stuff and easy to identify)...and they were at my heels the whole time.
How is this possible? I wasn't wearing ANY armor...I was naked and these boys who were each wearing at least 100+lbs of solid metal armor were hoofing it and matching my speed and actually managed to catch up with me! None of them had used their flee ability as mine was still on cooldown and I couldn't equip my weapons...which would mean that IF they had used their flee ability...they wouldn't have any of theirs.
My conclusion...armor balancing is missing. The entire point of wearing light armor is to maintain maximum maneuverability, agility, flexibility, mobility and speed. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum is heavy armor (Plate). Plate armor is designed to maintain maximum protection, damage reduction and overall survivability. It would seem that since plate wearing players can move fast enough and run long enough to keep up with AND CATCH naked players on foot...then why wear anything else?
The message that I'm getting from the personnel responsible for implementing this system is "Get plate or go home". So then I'm lost as to why the other types of armor are even in the game.
I'd suggest some serious Armor balance reworking, this wouldn't be some slight tweak or minor adjustment...this would basically be an entire overhaul of the system that was put in place...by whoever is responsible for it. The simple fact is that a player wearing easily over 100lbs of armor can keep up with a player wearing nothing that would restrict his/her movement and that's the wrong answer.
