Potential for Roman skin input.

Post by Jackhill123123 » 10 Jan 2018, 13:38

I have recently begun playing this game, and I have to say I love everything about it, from it's player base to it's vast maps and complex discussions and politics, but one very important factor is missing for me, and that is variety in equipment skins. I'm not asking you to input a new type of armour or make one specifically for a Roman theme, but me and my guild (Roman theme) are trying our hardest to make it work and we are struggling. I was just wondering if there was any hope that we might see a purchasable skin for Roman themed armour, firstly it looks awesome, secondly it will help the Roman themed guilds thrive and become immersed and thirdly it would actually make sense with the period. The races and the look of the walls, forrest and style all seem Roman era Europe (Apart from the Tabard) So I think it would be a great idea, not only for sales, but for gameplay to implement a skin that is Roman themed.

Roman era style? You realize that it some 500 years before this game takes place. As the last Roman bastion fell around 450-500AE.

This is closer to the Battle of Hastings time period, 1066, or about the time of the Norse saga of the Sons of Ragnar.

1453 was the fall of the Eastern Roman empire, which was in a very large sense similar to the Western half of the empire, I see your point but am not sure of it's intent.

While I love Roman styling in their armor, for the most part it was obsolete by the 9th and 10th century and VERY obsolete by the 11th.

As most people at this time were wearing riveted chainmail hauburks of a 4 in 1 pattern, with a padded undercoat (Gambison/Akiton). The Romans rarely used steel in their armor production but by the 11th century steel was the preferred armor material. Most roman armor was either leather, iron plates, or low grade steel (for the rich), or bronze, yes still bronze.

But seeing as this game has a suit of Maximilian plate, which is LATE Gothic period armor, right next to a set of Early Saxon armor.. I guess a "Roman" themed armor skin wouldn't be out of the question.
