Brotherhood of the Phoenix

Post by Azerath » 15 May 2014, 20:11

We have been betrayed. Men we once fought besides, men we have bled with, men we trusted with our lives have turned their backs on us. They slaughtered our brothers in arms, our wives, our sons, our daughters. They burned our homes, and occupy our lands. They have denied us our righteous war, our retribution for a murdered Emperor has been stolen from us. Acaelia has fallen.

But we are not defeated. We will rebuild, and our Nation will be made stronger. So long as one of us draws breath, this betrayal will not be forgotten, our murdered Emperor will not be forgotten. Justice will be delivered to the Dogriss and Galonians, and King Edwin's dynasty will end at the edge of a sword.

The Brotherhood of the Phoenix pledges to make it so.

Ex cinere surgemus! - Out of the ashes we will rise!

The above is my concept for a lore friendly secret society whose main goal is to see all the warring factions of Life is Feudal ban together and create one nation, for the purposes of avenging the events that led up to the beginning of the game.

I didn't put this into the guild recruitment area, because the things that define guilds in sandbox MMOs seem to be things like "guild tags" and "guild property" and alot of them act more like nations, and because I think it'll be mostly RPers who have any interest in this.

If the Brotherhood of the Phoenix makes it into game it will mostly be for purposes of Roleplay. As a secret society, membership will be...secret, with only the members who are higher up knowing the other members. We may ask members to contribute money, supplies, or to act as mercenaries for certain guilds but it won't be mandatory. We will never pressure you into fighing against your own guild, or your own guild's interests.

We will have events, like council meetings, and also, I hope to generate "quests" for members, or even non-members.

I'm slapping a label on the Brotherhood of the Phoenix and calling it a "tagless guild." For me, the main driving force behind this idea is to open up the world more, and to add dimensions to our gaming experience.

Guilds tend to become self-contained bubbles, and the only interaction a member from one guild might have with another is to kill that person. Guild leaders and officers might have more interaction if they're making alliances and what not, but I hope for this to be an opportunity for even the lowest ranking guild member to get out there and mix it up with people outside their guild, in a positive way, and with a purpose.

Being a "secret society" makes this a small step in that direction, but I think it'll be easier for people to sign up for it if they know their identities will be protected.

If people like this, hopefully others will come up with tagless guilds for people to belong to.

No matter what kind of organization or guild it is, it is still a guild, and as much as I like this concept, I have to move it to guild discussion, since I see no recruitment from where I stand but it still is a presentation of a guild.
