Some questions about Archery

Post by Daniel_cfe » 27 Mar 2018, 17:12

Hello there! I have all the minimum stat of longbow (40str-50agi) and all the skills in 90 (Slinger, Archery, Ranger) but i feel that i dont have the correct damage.

I need more str? Or maybe more Agi? I read in reddit a l
confusing guide.

I only use longbow in raids around the server and crosbow in defense.

PD: What is MaxAcuraccy? More agi influence in that?

Damage is not factored by your strength or agility... well not primarily.

The quality of the arrow has the greatest effect on damage. Range is determined by the strength of the user, bow type and quality. Accuracy is based on bow type, agility of the user, and quality of bow.

And what are you shooting with your longbow, what arrow are you using, what quality arrow, and what is your target wearing for protection.

Because with a composite shortbow I can hit a naked man for 50-60 damage with a 77ql arrow to the chest. With a broadhead the damage goes up to about 70-80.

But if you are shooting at a man in half plate, or chainmail or scale (lamellar) you want to use Bodkins, and regular or broadheads for everyone else.

First time trying ranger.

Tested q80 bodkin from longbow (ranger 90) on a guy in scale - 22hp damage in the chest from 5 tiles. Not that great considering how people do like 30-35 with an arbalest having ranger 0. I wonder if i'm doing something terribly wrong. I'd say arbalest or heavy xbow are much better in small open world scrimishes. Still, i imagine the range and rate of fire makes longbow quite useful in IB.

Bodkin is only for plate.
Scale armor has the best resistance to piering dmg, which bodkin does.
And bodkin does 80% dmg of normal arrows.

Broadhead do 120% slashing dmg of normal arrows in comparison.

Damage depends on arrow quality.
Speed bonus helps damage, try and shoot from high ground or walls/tower.

Accuracy depends on bow quality + agility.
Max accuracy is 1.5x agility requirement of 50, so 75 agility.

Regular arrows have the most range. I use these for general purpose.
Expect to deal 20-35 damage on regular armor, a little more for torso shots. 50-60 for head shots.
(95q longbow, 95 ranger skill, 95q arrow)

Broadheads have less range but hit harder. These are much more expensive to craft.
Great for shooting horses. Save these for judgement hour.

Bodkins are specifically for plate armor. Also expensive to craft.

Dull arrows seem pretty bad... low range and blunt damage, meh.

IMO the main strength of longbow is high mobility/fire rate/range.
You can outrun any melee, sidestep most lancers, and dodge arrows while still returning fire.
