Life is Feudal - Maybe not?

Post by BericDondarrion1 » 18 Apr 2018, 10:28

Is it complete incompetence or are there other reasons why the game has gone in such a terrible direction? I mean one could make the argument that the developers don't have the resources to make big changes quickly, but sometimes I find myself wondering that this can't be the case.

On one hand we have option one.

Developers have the resources but use them unwisely and put their time and effort into the wrong stuff.

and option 2

Developers don't have the resources to make changes quickly and so we're essentially not seeing the fruition of their work yet

I think both options have some merit, but i'm personally leaning towards option 1 more than option 2, I mean look at the game and the progress that has been made up until this point, analyse the events that have taken place and I think it's pretty clear to see that the developers have made choices, but not necessarily the right choices up until this point. You could argue that for example, opening the new servers were a necessary step in keeping the population interested while they worked on solving problems with lag and server problems, however I think that this was one of the initial flaws that have been showcased and proven to be mistakes in the timeline of OBT. I mean think about it, you make a game where you promise a huge open persistent world, where players can shape and change the political landscape around them and then you release band-aid fixes like new servers, to brutally break apart one of the "Core" aspects of what the game is supposed to be. This alone is enough to ruin a persons belief in you, word is everything and when you advertise as something and then present yourself as something else, you are already setting yourself up for failure.

To quote your own description of your game

"Hardcore and realistic, Life is Feudal: MMO showcases medieval life on a grand scale. Players will use survival skills, immersive RPG features, a thriving economy, community building, diplomacy and warfare to survive and flourish in the unforgiving world of Abella."

It is key to note the wording of this description, for the words chosen represent my point "Unforgiving World of Abella" not worlds, World. There is no plural.

Until the developers recognise that things like this as well as lack of meaningful content updates are a real problem, there will be little positive outlook for the future of this game.

There are many other things that we can point out, overpriced Skins, updates that make it appear as if the developers have zero clue about the game their players are asking for and believe they bought into, such as the recent changes to horse stamina making it a giant pain in the ass to travel across a map that is designed in such a way that travelling long distances for any kind of content is going to be part of your experience. When things like economy are non existent and instanced battles are barely functional (one of the only content features player can currently enjoy) are seemingly made to appear less important by such ridiculous changes it's no wonder the player base have lost faith in the game.

I could continue on endlessly about the issues that are present, but alas I do not wish to write a book that i don't believe is worth the time to create, so i'll end with this.

Life is Feudal is a niche game and you cannot please everyone, so please focus on the audience you wish to attract and build upon that. To quote a friend.

Make Life is Feudal a open world survival medieval simulator AS PROMISSED - Period. If not, I'm out!

Horse stamina isn't a problem - the lack of meaningful things to do at your destination is. Riding somewhere for half an hour just to be able to try and shoot a couple of archers on the walls isn't what i'm willing to spend 30 minutes of my life on.
