Help! Graphics problem

Post by Colonelxcs » 22 Sep 2014, 10:53

Hey guys,

Quickie - Love LIF but I have two display drivers in my laptop -
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 and a NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 870M, the latter is used for my gaming.

Now when I get into LIF it should swap to the NVIDIA but in video its stuck on the Intel and I can't swap it, and I'm stuck with unusually slow fps, any ideas? If someone can help out that would be fantastic!! :Yahoo!:

(I've gone into my NVIDIA panel and made the LIF client use the high processor aswell but nothings changed)

This may work:

Go to the NVIDIA Control Panel by right clicking on your desk top and clicking on "NVIDIA Control Panel".

In the default screen that pops up (it should be "manage 3D settings", and the "Program Settings" tab should be automatically selected), under "1. Select a program to customize:" hit the "Add" button.

From here, navigate to the folder where your steam games are located. For me, it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common.

Select the folder for the game you want to use your NVIDIA card for, and find the .exe for that game (it's usually right in the main game folder). Select it and hit open.

Then, under "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:" open the drop-down menu and select "High-performance NVIDIA processor".

Finally, hit apply in the far bottom right corner, and you should be good to go!

When you start the game from Steam, the .exe will be opened, which will now run with your NVIDIA card by default rather than your integrated card.

That sucks. Not sure what else to suggest.

I'm assuming in video, under "display driver" (at the top), your graphics card doesn't appear now.

Do you have anyway to disable the integrated card in the bios? That's the only other thing I can think to suggest if the above didn't work.

Yeah, Alfie. I already disable the intel graphics, but even with this, the game didnt open with the nvidia. It use the "windows renderizer" or something like this.

Someone was saying even though it says that, it's actually using the Nvidia card.

I assume you've put all graphics to minimum? (specifically tree detail and lighting quality)

Its like a super nintendo graphic. I already put everything on minimum, and hey, i play Dayz, Formula 1 2013, batman series, all this in high or medium config, but this game, I cant barely play. Now, that we start to build things, its worse!

Even when you force nVidia's graphics thru the control panel, and altho it does show that the nvidia card is being used (in the gpu monitor), I'm pretty sure that the game is still using intel HD. I can run Arma 3 with no problem, i seems that the problem is affecting laptop users, I personally have a 760M card and gave up, I'm either waiting for someone to tell us how to modify the game config files or just wait for a patch... :( :(

Yeah, looking forwards to this being fixed for all GPU's. Seems to be one of the hardest hitting issues atm.

Have you guys tried cranking up the graphic settings to maybe trick the system into "needing" the dedicated even though its set to always? Been trying to help other people with this one, but seems a pretty stubborn issue.

unusually low FPS seems par for the course right now, I manage almost 50fps on the lowest settings with my 780ti!
