anyone know how to get leather i have been killing moose for a while and i have yet to get any i need to get thin and thick leather for armor and weapons but cant seem to get starter weapons like a sword since there is no leather

Lay traps and capture rabbits. From there, slaughter them and tend to their hides.

I've yet to hit a point where I can do this but, it's what I assume a player has to do for leather, with a tanning bin/Drying rack.

so how does the snare work i use it but nothing happens bar fills up no leveles gained no message nothing

Lay snare and walk away. They auto catch wildlife.

Just walk back in an hour or two and you SHOULD have something caught.
