feeling awkward

Post by Skogrgumi » 24 Sep 2014, 06:04

so I downloaded and started playing the game yesterday the first thing that I noticed is that the movement is awkward. I realize this is an alpha but I would very much like the final game physics and mechanics to be smooth. example can compare war of the roses to war of the Vikings. in War of the Vikings running jumping and walking seem smooth and natural (at least compared to LiF or war of the roses). For me, the movement of the avatar and interaction with the environs are super important. The story may be great and the crafting system extensive but if I feel like my avatar is all gimpy and stuttering while merely walking about then it is hard to even appreciate the good qualities.

I may be driving through a beautiful and interesting landscape with great music on the radio, but if the car is jerking all about and has no shocks and is backfiring and smoking it'll be hard for me to see anything else.

I feel like this is kind of a make or break issue with me. I'd much rather pay a game with crappy graphics that feels smooth and natural than a game with beautiful graphics and awkward movement.

Please please please spend lots of effort working this out Bobik!

Anybody else feel this way? Or do I just need a new computer because I'm getting this experience due to low performance. ..

Yeah, animations would need some improvement. I feel that walking is quite okay, but running and fighting looks too stiff.

I remember my own fascination just watching NPCs in Skyrim go on about their daily lives - blacksmithing, chopping logs, cooking, and grinding alchemical components with the mortar and pestle.

It would be an immersive addition should animations such as those are added.
