So i got my mate to kill me and i went un-conscious and realized i didn't have a re-spawn button so i exit the game and came back, now after selecting the character and going into loading the game it crashes to desktop.

Then I restarted the server and its the same and on top of that my friend cant join it too.

Any ideas?

PS: Joining other servers works fine.

PSS: Making a new character does not work on the server.

I have the exact same problem. I cant even delete my character. This error shows up when i try to delete my character: You cannot delete that character = code 1042.

I encountered this issue this morning as well. I did not die, but received an error message saying that I was not running the correct version. Then the screen went white.

Now I chose my character, and it crashes as soon as the game finishes loading. It is worth noting that every time this occurs it does allow me to submit a report, and I have done so.

Is there a more expedient resolution to this? I had just found an iron vein for the first time, right next to the village I joined.

Well, i guess we just have to try and find the fix our selfs. I also had the crash after a friend knocked me out, revived me and healed me. So that might be where the problem lies.

I'm having this problem as well. Making a new character doesn't help, and I can log onto other servers just fine.

I was never knocked out or killed. so that wouldn't be the source of the problem for me. I have also never been able to exit the game properly though, always needing to utilize ctrl+alt+delete, ctrl-f4, etc. I'm wondering if the servers are not reading us as having actually left, and are keeping us from entering again. Does the server always show at least one person on when you aren't able to login?

Well according to server logs it could be to do with steam? does everyone here have the game off steam? just out of curiosity?

I think the issue is here if anyone knows anything about this stuff?

Radical, what server are you on? I'm curious if the problem is server specific or user&server specific? If it is server specific maybe the server just needs a reboot... I am on BlueFangSoultions.cm.... Philly#2 if you want to test.

I am using Bluefangs hosting too and its just server related as they are saying their other clients dont have this issue, so its very strange indeed.

Have rebooted, wiped, reinstalled, reinstalled the game, etc etc and still no luck the issue keeps coming back on this server...

Which server? Did you try Philly#2? The guy hasnt been online to message him and ask for a reboot or anything.

Everyone is on steam. Even if you buy it on their site it just gives you a steam key.

That being said, I did everything short of completely reinstalling it on steam. No dice.

Ive spend 3 days crashing and wiping and losing 24 hours of game play because of this bug and simply cannot find a fix, some say a validation error but i have tried all steam fixes for this...

No idea, just hope its fixed in next patch

I had the same problem was fixed by a server restart

This is now happening to me on a second server.

It gave me a message saying something to the effect of "cannot find mutex." I accidentally hit enter because I was in the process of doing something when it happened. I was then booted from the game. After waiting for the servers to finish loading so I could find mine, it crashed after loading.

Given that the server reset fixes it, I'm betting that since the disconnect results from an error the server views us as logged in still, or something to this effect. Kind of like trying to run the game while the error report is sending - it says the application fails because it is already running.

But we don't see this message, because it is server side.

That's all conjecture, but from what I've seen with other server issues in different scenarios it makes sense.

Been more than 24 hours and still no dice. I assume the server has been reset and i requested it via bluefangsoultions yesterday.

They will have to wipe the database too Navi that will fix it but you will lose everything....

I tried logging into "BlueFangSolutions #1 and #2" and many others, but I keep getting deadlocks. A few specific servers I can join, but I'm not seeing a difference between them. Going to try a re-install as a fix.

EDIT--
Still gets stuck on loading world, then the same MUTEX error you were getting. This seems to be happening on a lot of servers, but if it'd force the server to wipe its player bases work out, that doesn't seem like a viable fix.

I haven't read anything of reinstalling the game. Maybe this could help if something is broken with the installation. It sounds like this happening on different servers... and the logs says that steam authentication failed... so the server identified you and tried to validate your steam account but failed...

I guess it's worth to try
