Dedicated Server issue

Post by NapalmVFR » 24 Sep 2014, 17:53

Hi once again peeps,

Since my last topic about a problem with a hosted server I have downloaded and installed the dedicated server on my PC to have a look around.

However, I've successfully set up the server, it loads and configures the database but it just sits at the "Steam initialized" entry.

From watching the server that runs when you create a local server from within LiF:YO I know it should receive an authorisation but the dedi-server does not get to this point and I can not see it in the server listings.

Any help to make me understand where I have gone wrong would help.

As I recall Steam Initialized is the last step in the dedicated boot up process. But I can't check currently.

Try connecting to your dedicated server using joinToRemoteServer("IP:PORT", "PASSWORD"); in the client console.

Make sure IsPrivate is 0 in your config/world_1.xml

Make sure you are forwarding port 28000 on your router to your dedicated server PC if you are connecting via your WAN (external) IP address and not your LAN (internal - 192.*.*.* usually) IP address.

Thanks MH6, it is in fact working and waiting for a client to connect, using the console to connect worked.

Thanks again.
