Flying objects

Post by Uno » 29 Sep 2014, 12:28

This kind of stuff should come to an end sooner or later, as the ability to position items at different heights causes more troubles than it's worth. Either remove it completely or enable physics for them, an object that is positioned at a certain height must lean on another one underneath or fall to the ground.

Is there any official word about this issue yet?

You know I have placed some objects and they seem to fall until they land on something. I think a mechanism for gravity already exists I just think for some items it is not working properly. I hope this can be fixed though because building "stairs" over palisades is quite trivial right now for raiding.

We are aware of this nasty issue with ability to put objects so high. Fix for objects altitude settings will come sometime later.

One potential fix is making objects placed a certain height above their starting point not interact with players. Just imagine any logs over 1 meter off the ground they were placed on not interacting with players. Whether they interact or not would be decided at placement.

The only downside to this method is it would allow players to hide in large stacks of wood.

And the ability to put logs in places where nobody but an Admin can remove them from.....

In that case, limit height to the highest a player can reach above themselves. Still an easy fix that still allows log stacking and is easy to implement. Having logs and objects have physics would be a bitch to implement.

Gravity would be nice, but what we need to suggest is a quick, really easy to implement fix. Do you want to wait months for gravity or get a quick-fix that still allows them to advertise everything in their teaser video was make able to be made with in game mechanics, while fixing the main issues the problem causes?
