I look back at many ancient religions and mythology of how the world has come to be, I find it very interesting when Man tries to find a way to Personify God with a particular being or entity, sometimes human, sometimes a creature of a different kind.
In Roman Mythology, the Gods were depicted being very much like man, only immortal and omnipotent. Each God had a fascet and theme that defined them. The God of War, the Goddess of Fertility. Ares, Athena. I think one of my favorite fictional religions is that portrayed in The Song of Ice and Fire series, because it personifies these Gods with archetypes of the actual living and current world.
The Father, The Mother, The Smith, The Crone. So on and so forth.
I liked the simple themes that are used to actually portray a greater and more omnipotent being and so you will find my inspiration therein for this proposed religion. (Large Western Influence)
Lord of Lords, and the Eight Disciples
The Creator
The Creator is God, and God is the Creator. What his true name may be is not understood or known by any mortal that roams the earth. Whether he is divine, or a myth that man chose to believe in, they have called him the Creator, and the Lord of Lords, his true identity only known by the Eight Disciples that serve him (Demi-Gods). The Creator is often depicted as a Titan with Eight Arms, each hand carrying a tool of each of his disciples.
The Lord
In the Creator's uppermost right hand sits the balance and scale for which all judgement comes from. His greatest and highest ranked disciple, The Lord, also stands as the Creator's Judgement. The leadership of the people.
The Lord is the Disciple of Judgement, and often depicted as the greatest of the Disciples. Many Lords of the Realm visit his Shrine in the sanctuary and will light candles to him. They will pray for his guidance. Often he is prayed to for judgement. When a trial by combat is called upon by man, when there is no evidence of a crime committed, it is strongly believed that the warrior who wins the Trial by Combat is proven true in the eyes of the Lord.
The Lady
In the Creator's uppermost left arm, the Creator cradles a baby, a symbol of the Lady. She is the mother of all, the Disciple of Fertility, and stands beside the Lord as his companion.
The Lady is prayed to by many, and perhaps more so than the other disciples. She is prayed to for fertility, for the illness of little ones, she is prayed to by mothers, and fathers alike as she is the mother of all things living.
The Mason
In the Creator's second highest right hand, is held the mallot. It is a symbol of The Mason, who's hands molded the beginnings of all civilization.
The Mason is the third Disciple of the Eight, who is portrayed as the foundation for new beginnings. He is prayed to by merchants, craftsman, builders, and all sorts of men and women, that his hands will guide theirs in achieving perfection in their craft.
The Maiden
In the Creator's second highest left hand, is held the rose. It is a symbol of The Maiden and her beauty. She brought color to a world of darkness, and from her eyes, resonates love that is undying and unending.
The Maiden is prayed to perhaps the most by young maidens and girls searching the world for the fabled love that is told of in fairytales and old legends. The pray to her for beauty that they will grow to be beautiful as she is. They may pray that she turns the heart of some Lord's son. Typical girl stuff.
The Champion
The Third right hand that is held, the Titan, is the Sword, a symbol of the Champion. He is the disciple of battle, and the Brother of the Warden. He is prayed to by warriors, most often before going to war.
The Champion is said to be the Brother of the Warden, two of the same brood, who face battle with two different approaches. The Champion aims to conquer, while the Warden aims to protect.
The Warden
The Third left hand that is held, the Titan, is the Shield, a symbol of the Warden. He is the disciple of protection, and the Brother of the Champion. He is prayed to by many warriors and guardians, most often before War comes to their homelands.
The Warden is said to be the Brother of the Champion, two of the same brood, who face battle with two different approaches. The Champion aims to conquer, while the Warden aims to protect. The Warden, unlike the Champion is not prayed to by mostly men and soldiers, but also women. Many wives will light a candle to the Warden, praying for the Warden to return their sons and husbands safely to them from the war.
The Vagabond
The final hand of the Creator's right, is held the Lantern that guides the Night. The Lantern is a symbol of the Vagabond, who is considered the Disciple of Exploration and Navigation.
The Vagabond is depicted as a robed wanderer with a lantern in his hand. He is prayed to by explorers and travellers, and men and women that are preparing for long journeys. He is also prayed to for wisdom and guidance, when the future is unknown.
The Rogue
The final hand of the Creator's left, is held the void, the symbol of death. The void is depicted as an empty hand, and a symbol of the unknown, and the Rogue.
The Rogue is not prayed to by many, and is considered the disciple of death and deception. He is depicted very similarly to the Vagabond, but is instead faceless.
