Game barely playable.

Post by Dannomite » 01 Oct 2014, 01:25

So I bought the game yesterday. It looks really good from the trailers and the YouTube videos I've been watching, and I'm really excited to play. But it's been basically unplayable since I got it. I tried playing with my brother who created a server but it was impossible to find it (which is fine I'm sure we'll figure something out) but the lag in my own world if awful. There's no way to play it with this much lag.

I've read a few posts about this issue and I've turned the tree detail down as well as every other visual setting to the minimum. But the lag didn't change in the slightest. I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Would you mind posting your system specs?

When posting about performance you must provide your system specs.

Also, its better to lower detailed content. That saved me tons of lagg and bad FPS.

same here, i5 2500k @ 4ghz, HD 7950 @ 1.2Ghz, 8GB ram, and the game is a slideshow, sometimes it goes lower than 20 fps, I can't believe it with tree/object detail to minimum, no AA, no postFX... performance in this game is ****. I can max out any other game and be perfectly playable, most of the times +60 fps....

The game is not optimized. Doesn't matter if it's low end or high end.

I had issues with the game too. First off I changed the settings so that the graphics weren't maxed. I think the game will allow us to change this once bugs are fixed.

Also I found that different servers resulted in different performance levels. I setup a server to help this. The server is now available to the right type of players. No griefers - RP - People that want to be apart of community and see it grow.

Well, yes and no, true it is not optimized, but my system runs it on max settings all day long with no hiccups, 60fps looking out to shore, and 42-25 fps looking in towards the mountain.

And this is while I am running two dedicated servers. One of which has 5-21 people on it most of the time and has only crashed once. It's been up since I started doing my container patrols, /delobj on skinned corpses. (though I notice that the items are staying in the Items list unless I manually delete them)

1st gen i7 9920 OC 3.85ghz, 12gb 3channel OC 1620, R9 270 2gb, older EVGA x58 M.B., OTC Vertex4 SSD.

As for the OP, if none of the suggestions here help, try rolling back your video driver two or three iterations. On my previous SLI'd GTX 285s that helped in a LOT of games. (GW2 especially)

My computer is better than yours and the game runs like ***. My friend with a GTX 780 runs it even worse.

If I set everything to maximum (including tree detail) my fps are 8-9... come on, I could max out crysis 3 at 4k and still have better fps than that...

Sorry to hear that. All your cores unlocked? That's the only other thing I can think of.

I hear things like this, have no issues myself, see people streaming having no issues, and am concerned about the root causal, but have no way to determine it, and I'm the type that likes to Know these types of things.... :Search:

Yeah everything is fine. My performance in all games is even better than what reviews/benchmarks online say, but in this game i'ts just horrible.

why is 8GB ram a must for a 32bit app?

With a GTX 780? I'd like to see that.

You only ask for the GTX 780? Are you not surprised that my HD 7950 @ 1.2Ghz (faster than a stock GTX 770) plays this game like a slideshow?

I have a GTX660Ti, with AA and Shadows set to OFF I get pretty decent results. Buddy of mine uses a 2012 (I assume) GTX TITAN and he has to do the same.

When a game isn't optimised yet, this is what you get. For some it runs awesome and for others not. Give it a few months, the developers are working their arses off to fix bugs and whatnot.

That wasn't my point, at all.

I have a R9 290x and I run at 60+ FPS consistently @ 1440. This isn't the first time this issue has risen, and it won't be the last time.

The sad truth is from the developers point of view it's very, very hard to figure out what's going on.

My GPU usage while gaming in this game oscillates like crazy, inside a 20-80 % range.

Well like I said I've turned every visual setting down to the minimum and not a change.

CPU
Intel Core i5 3427U @ 1.80GHz
Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
Acer Polaris_CX (U3E1)
Graphics
Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Acer Incorporated [ALI])

Seems like FPS is heavily based on servers. I've got shit fps on some, while great fps on others.

Try playing on one of the AnqerQuare servers and see if it still lags.

Yup, this is largely why I started my own server. Want one that doesn't lag out and give you crap FPS? Look at my sig ;)
