Couple of things :)

Post by CarterHastings » 06 Oct 2014, 05:55

I purchased LIF a week or so back when i found it on steam as it was certainly a game i could get my teeth into and i even started a server but i am either missing something or some of the content that i have seen on youtube and other sites in not implemented fully yet.

Animals is the main thing iam stumped on such as cows. pigs & sheep.. are these actually in game yet or is the footage and guides to this that i have seen actually from closed alpha or something?

Another important question i would need to ask is iam assuming ALL content that is going to be on the MMO version will also be on the YourOwn version as i may use this as a replacement for the minecraft server i ran for 2+ years but i dont want to get freinds to buy it and join up to find it will be updated seperatly to the MMO version and if someone wants full content they will need to pay to play this version it would be truely frustrating and therefore not a good replacement at all.

Right now there's only mooses and wolves afaik.

There are differences:

but i dont want to get freinds to buy it and join up to find it will be updated seperatly to the MMO version and if someone wants full content they will need to pay to play this version it would be truely frustrating and therefore not a good replacement at all.

Don't worry. Buyers of YO will essentially get one character in the MMO version for free.

FAQ wrote:Q: Is this game going to be free?

A: Likely, no. Currently we're planning to use combination of b2p (buy to play) and f2p (free to play) models. You will be able to download the client for free and stay on the newbie island for as long as you wish. But the newbie island will be wiped of changes everyday and your skillcap on the newbie island is 150. You can read more about newbie island mechanics here. Leaving the newbie island will require some amount of special ingame currency which can be bought with real life funds. That special ingame currency can be spent later on some vanity items in our ingame shop.
We are introducing entry fee only for the purpose of protecting the player's community from cheaters/harassment that may be possible in many ways in sandbox games like ours. That does not mean that we won't implement anti-harassment gameplay mechanisms and anti cheat measures. Although you might loose your funds you have spent on that game if you receive a ban. This works as a good reason to behave accordingly and not to push limits.

Infos to newbie island: http://lifeisfeudal.com/mmorpgsandLiF/L ... ure-begins

So for my understanding, it the MMO is out you can play for free but with limitations

You can test the game for free, on a much smaller island, with everything being reset to 0 after 24 hours. That hardly qualifies as free2play.

What I was talking about is that buyer of YO get ingame currency so in the MMO they can transfer 1 character from noob island to the real game.

My main problem is i have been playing mmo's online for years and am tired of paying for them.. i hate to think how much money i have spent since 2002 when i started playing SWG. I bought a server to host my own games to avoid exactly that so now i really like LIF and have hosted it but i dont want to find out later that YOUOWN verison is nerfed and to get full game content i would have to join the MMO version.

i understand that i get a free slot on the MMO version due to purchasing it but i would like to play on a much smaller scale on my own server without and loss in content

So, I have been eating bread for years and I am tired of paying for it. Doesn't it sound weird?

With LiF:YO you will get one char in MMO. If you need more, you will have to pay one time fee to get from the newbie island. It's not even a regular monthly payment, it's one time payment. MMO is not YO, your servers or your chars will not be transferred to MMO, so you can keep playing LiF:Your Own on your own servers, if you wish.

And obviously, if you have financial problems and can't afford YO, you should focus on solving those problems rather than escaping them.

Also important note: by buying LiF now you are supporting devs to push it into beta and release, so if you don't want to support devs and pay 40$ you may want to wait until it's beta or release - that's absolutely okay. It's just, you know, people usually get paid when they create something, so I'm quite baffled seeing players to demand free rides.

As the old saying - if you're getting something for free, you are the product.

Well in my opinion that was a rather pointless reply.. i have purchased this already and am about to purchase it again for my wife. My point is i dont want to pay montly for a game which i have no control over hense why i have hosted my own games for some time while also paying for WOW. It seems it will not be a monthly payment but included with the purchase of LIF, However the chances are i still will not play but instead stay on YO and host it myself. My point is i would someone who actually knows what they are talking about (preferebly a dev) to comment on whether or not the YO version will have any less game content that the MMO version. I dont want to tell the people i know and play mmo's with that this game is the one to go with to find out later that it has been nerfed.

I am not saying it want anything for free but this is actually going to cost me time and money to host a server plus work on website/forums etc as well as advertising my server and as i said i have already purchased it once with another purchase any day so i fail to see how i want it for free.. i just want to know my time and extra cost will not be wasted
