For players starting on new servers.

Post by Balagor » 15 Oct 2014, 15:16

This thread is manly focused on the people who are starting on new servers and go into global saying "Hi, i'm new, are there any new groups?". Usually players like that tend not to go on the forums and check out things, but just in case you are here read on.

I am writing this because over the past days I noticed players doing this: they join the server, check for groups and get no respond then leave the server because no one wanted to play with them.

I have been there and I know it is hard to find a group, that's why I wanted to point you towards the private server section, in there you can find some threads about different servers, both PvP and just PvE. Before you join a server, go over there and check the servers out. Often the server admins have created a site revolving around the server, even have a teamspeak server going.

Please take this advice, this game is not for single players so go check out the private server sections or guild section for new servers, don't just pick a random one. Not every size fits all.

Also consider that not every group on a public server just has open recruitment. With the number of trolls that play this game often times they won't just take every new person that logs in saying "How come I can't move? any groups I can join? I need food! How do I make a tool?" Spend some time first of all on a private server and learn the basics of the game. press f1 like the popup when you join a server says and get a basic understanding of movement keys, etc.

And once you are ready to play on a public server don't log on and say "Hai I'm new, any kewl groupz 2 join?"

Personally I don't take in people who seems excessively needy to my group. Spend an hour or so on the server, develop some skills, pick a profession to persue then try something like "Hey guys, I'm looking for a group to join. I'm an aspiring Architech with 12 skill in construction, 60 terraforming, and I can help with farming (43 skill)"

This will more likely net you a more positive response since you are showing a level of understanding about the game, some self sufficiency, and you are providing skills that you can offer to a community. Most people won't want someone who seems like they are going to be a drain on resources.
