Server setting help

Post by Luthern » 05 Oct 2014, 23:05

Setting up a server and having a hard time understanding the settings I am using blackbox as a host

Few things I am trying to change

Crop growth/tree Growth times I see no options for this in my config but I see forum posts about it

I want crops to be about 4 hours and trees about a real life day can this been done?

animalBFPeriod [range 1-600]
animalsCount [range 10-75]
craftingPeriod [range 1 - 3600] Is lower faster or is higher faster? does not say
dayCycle [range 0.5 - 24] Is lower shorter days or is lower longer days?
Is on Master Server List
skillcap [range 200 - 3000]
skillsStatsMult [range 0.1 - 100]
terraformingSpeed [range 0-60]

I would also like to make farm animals breed more I think it's the animalBFPeriod setting not sure what a good setting or if that would even fix breeding

Day cycle determines crops/tree growth. For a 4 hour crop growing time you'd need to go for the lowest setting, a day cycle of 0.5.

Crafting period: Lower is faster.
Day Cycle: Lower is shorter.

Half an hour day, half an hour night, I think. Don't quote me on it.

I was under the impression the complete day cycle was in hours. So a 0.5 day cycle would actually be 15 minutes day and 15 minutes night. I have my server set to 2 hour day cycles, and there seems to be 1 hour of day for every 1 hour of night. I could be wrong though. So I'll quote Maegfaer and say don't quote me on it ;)

Edit: So as far as crops go, they progress to the next growth stage every in-game day. If your day cycle is 2, then they grow every 2 hours. Even at that rate, you're looking at around 12-18 hours in real life before harvesting.

world_1.xml wrote:<dayCycle>3</dayCycle> <!-- Real life hours per in game day. Affects speed of crops and trees growth (range: 0.5 - 24) -->

0.5 = Hours per InGame Day... so if the comment is correct (and it is) you have then 15 minutes day and 15 minutes night time.

I'm playing with DayCycle at 3, which I like from a gameplay perspective. But boy does it seem to take a long time for trees to grow.

Does passage of in-game days depend on someone being logged in to the server?

Some sort of ingame 'calendar' would be sweet.

Question: AnimalsBFPeriod --> What causes the little buggers to breed faster, a lower setting or higher one?
