The Dream Team?

Post by Dailato » 09 Nov 2013, 22:04

If you had a choice of any guilds in the world, what would your dream team be to form a nation in LiF?

What roles would the guilds fill, how many members would they have, and which would lead the nation as the "royal family"?

What would you use the power and/or influence of this nation for? What goals would you pursue and how would you fullfill them?

Let's see some ambition here people! ^^

If it was my choice, I'd prefer to see a true monarchy, ruled by royal family, and of course by a wise king.

And hell... I wish I was a king, but not like all these greedy kings, who conquer nations to be more rich and powerfull, of course I would use my influence to get rid of my enemies. I would have my lords, who would rule on many different areas, they would have their own castles, just like in the "Game of Thrones".

I would make sure that "my people" would be safe and had somewhere to live, I would mobilize army to protect my lands and hold off any invaders. I know that 'good' kings have short lifespan, since royals are always pursuing for more power and riches, but I think I would menage to take care of that.

In that harsh environment I would be forced to sometimes use force and intimidation, but that what always has to happen, kings are supposed to be wise, strong and feared, but I'd care more about being respected for good I would do rather than be feared for killing and invading someone's homeland.

That's about that, I would propably be like Eddard Stark, he might not be a king, but he was a lord and a king's friend. So I'd be good and honest, like him, just without the part where he loses his head. I mean, I wouldn't be that open and trustful, that ends badly.

I prefer a working economic and military structure...parts of the high classes should be concentrating on managing these aspect like the wealth minister is focusing on trade and ressource suppliment while the sword seargent is giving time shedules for PvP Players aka Soldiers to train there skills or battle formations.

All organized by the Earl and his right Hand

Falke, I hope you realize that Earl was only a head of one city/fleet/group of warriors, and there were many of them, there is still a King above Earls.

Anyway I think this works fine too, just the problem is that Earls may have disagree and fght against eachother.

Did you watch "Vikings"? There among these Vikings it is shown how one fights with another, even with king for some part of the land. So this isn't excacly perfect form of government.

Monarchy or Autocracy or other similar would work much better, if the ruler would be wise of course. Because you know, no king can rule forever, and people will rebel eventually if they will be unhappy.

Monarchies do work if run by competant people that get along well. I was a lord of the Hyperion Kingdom back in Darkfall 1.0 . The kingdom spanned half the game world and it's cities. It fell apart due to general apathy on the part of it's leadership and many of it's members.

Let that sort of be a lesson. Empires never work in Sandbox games. It takes a robust pvp crowd to create and maintain an empire. When you run low on enemies to fight, the pvpers get bored and move on and the wolves close in shortly after.

I suppose my dream team would be a collection of city states that are allied but are allowed to do controlled warfare against each other for training and to keep the boredom away. No asset destruction, just open field warfare for fun. That will keep the pvpers entertained while maintaining the peace.

Cian can attest to how successful Hyperion was when it had the right combination of people available and not being pestered by RL.

Silver Sun Republic was able to maintain it's own government and activity and actually grew over time retaining a lot of it's core players through an active system/structure.

We even employed full battle lines in open PvP battles to great effect before magic got way out of hand. I foresee us being able to fully implement the same system we had before and enjoy much success with it!

A guild is nothing. The people in the guild make it good or bad. Krevente says it "The right combination of people". ATS in particular has people from all across the world who have never met in person nor share any real world organizations like the military.

We like gaming and that is what we do. I've gamed with a ton of great guys from all over so I doubt I could label it as one or two guilds.
