For a multiplayer sandbox style of game, it's already pretty great.
There are bugs here and there, but they're not anything more than you'd find in many already released games. Quite a bit of the features are either not implemented, or not fully implemented.
The character models aren't done yet, so your player might look kind of boring at the moment, it's a temporary model. With that, the combat system isn't really done fully yet, because well, why perfect the combat using a temporary model.
But what's already in the game you can easily spend 200+ hours enjoying if you like sandbox styles of Simulation/Strategy games.
Farm fields, raise chickens/hares and now cattle/sheep/pigs. Build housing and place furniture in it. Build walls around your "home" to fortify it and make it harder for others to get at you and your stuff. Find others to play with and try to play by a "live and let live" mindset. Or decide to play the villain and kill anyone and everyone you want, and take their stuff by force.
This is not an MMO though, don't think that. It's a multiplayer currently. How I explain it to other strategy gamers is thus:
In Civilization, you have Settlers and Workers that you send out to build improvements and new cities. The players are these units in LIF. You build roads, walls, flatten terrain, plant and chop down forests and slowly you migrate from being a "camp" type area, to a Farm if you're by yourself, or a Village if playing with others. And then you just keep on going to improve your area, and on some of the more populated servers, will connect different areas by roads.
There aren't any Guild/Order/Realm/Kingdom features in the game yet, but that doesn't really stop folks.
