LiF:YO Dropped bags disappeared

Post by Olepi » 16 Dec 2014, 01:34

Do dropped items have a lifetime in LiF:YO? I dropped bags of different items yesterday, and today they are all gone. Is this a known issue?

I'm running my own server, playing solo.

Thanks.

Greetings.
A month ago , there was a patch , the devs added a decay system. Gravestones, lootbags, dropped items, animal corpses will disappear in a few (in)game days.
So to keep your loot save use either a Container like for example:
Crate's , Chest's or Barrels. Or build an Warehouse , to keep your loot save.

P.S:
Here is link to the Patchnotes
Greetz.

Not an issue, its intended. Things need a decay rate so there's not so much clutter. Keep it in a chest/barrel etc.

Thanks, is there any way to set the decay time? It's been less than 24 hours game time. I stop the server at night and restart to play. Or maybe it's using real time instead of in-game time? Even so, that would be less than 24 hours.

edit: I'm just starting out, haven't built anything yet. It's gonna be tough if I can't keep anything from one day to the next. I'll have to make everything needed in the same day.

There most likely is a Database entry to set this. However i havent encountered any specific infos about the decay settings yet.
So like i said , for now , your best Shot to keep your loot save , is to use either a Container like for example:
Crate's , Chest's or Barrels. Or build an Warehouse.

It would be nice if there were some lower tier storage containers just for this. People just starting out have quite a while to go before they can make anything, having something like baskets made from plant fiber would really help.

Well since its a private server make extra furnace or two and place stuff inside until you can make the crates, barrels, chests and wardrobes that you will need for storage.
It does not matter who is the strongest fighter, just the last one standing.

A game day is the plant growth period (in hours) and defaults to 3 hours

This means decay happens in about 6-9 hours real time, which is 2-3 game days. When the server starts up, I'm pretty sure it runs a catch-up maintenance cycle to account for missing time, so it'd be deleting your dropped containers at that point.

As far as I've seen, the decay system is hardcoded into the server, and not modifiable.
