JAILS and cages ? Can we test this ?

Post by Bionoman » 31 Dec 2014, 03:21

Ive never actually played a pvp full loot mmo where players can jail others.

Yes there could be lots of greifing, but can this be tested as an experiment?
Someone had an idea for jails, meaning those theives that always come to the settlement to steal something could be jailed if they surrender.

The Roleplaying element would be awesome, plus as serfs in a new settlement we can always have free music and songs sung by the -usually funny trolls - that do end up in jails and get bored. Plus they keep company lol

Anyone agree? :D

Have a look at this steam discussion idea:

Its pretty good in my honest opinion. :)

Sorry but you're a fool to think someone will actually surrender and go to jail.
Who will be the police? What will qualify one as a feudal age peace officer?
I, as many others i'm sure, would rather prefer dragging my morning star across the thief's head instead.

Life is Feudal is made to have three punishments, kick/ban/kill. More than enough if you ask me.

whoa whoa ... shots fire.
A fool? ... for thinking that a medieval game should have a jail.
A jail that is buildable by anyone? Think about it, when you run your
morning star across someones head, they drop on the ground correct?
Then they get back up and run away then later on, come greif and cause trouble.

Life is Feudal is about stuff being feudal, so perhaps we should be feudal about it and be allowed to pick up someone who is unconscious and throw them in a jail that people built and leave them in there until they settle or something? lol.

Like i said this is a idea and i think i would love to experiment with this.

Perhaps people who are jailed can suicide after 20 minutes or something.

Sorry friend but I don't think you thought this out enough.

I'm not saying that medieval games shouldn't have jails but Life is Feudal in particular - should not have jails. The gameplay is set to a slow and gradual process; there are tons of things to do when you start out, and it will take you lots of time and effort to accomplish things. That being said, no one would want to waste their play time sitting locked up. Not only that would cause people to fight to the death to avoid being knocked out and tossed behind bars but it would greatly discourage a huge part of this game - raiding/looting.

And I'm not sure if you ever used the morning star here but I have yet to see one player get up after meeting a morning star to their head lol

If you want a jail system, A3L is the game you want to try ;)

Jails that GMs could use to punish rule breakers. Those rules that aren't quite enough to get them banned.

The idea is not that bad, but not needed in my opinion.
On the real MMO later, you don't want to die neither do you want to kill, unless certain status is available. You loose your alignment and on a server with limited characters (due to buy per slot), your name will be worth something among other players. Be a dick and expect to play alone and hated. Be a bad guy (-50 Alignment) and be ready to get your ass kicked on sight (when someone is looking for these kind of trouble). Surrender and get killed, atleast for me, have a big fucking grin on my face causing my other side to loose alignment for no reason beside his virtual bloodlust.

When you spawn, you come in from the air, and can drift to one side or the other while falling, using the mouse keys, so any jail would not work.

Im not so sure about this idea but like i said in my other post: i rather not play in an MMO where i have nothing and still get killed because i have nothing than in one. I think jail could exist but need to be VERY WELL MADE. And to fix the MMO problem i would suggest a map big enough to space out players and make it hard to actually find others and start tribes. By making it hard, i think it would allow players to really think if they would kill the player they just met or to group up and try to find more players. Perhaps if they could make it so big that you actually have to waste a half of a day or 1/4 of a day of gameplay to find someone else.
