Week long /claim timer Q

Post by Burne109 » 10 Jan 2015, 06:53

Hello,

So the ownertime is set to 608800

7days*24hours*60*60 (604800) but added a lil lol..

But the timer just shows Ownername:{myname}Timer:-

The - is concerning,
is the timer 'show time' limited to 48hours max? Or did I exceed the claim timer?

I've seen a few mods that have week long claim times, so I was curious if anyone knows. to be sure.

I believe that a week is the maximum for seeing the date numbers, anything over a week is not shown. The timer is still counting down, will just take those 4000 + 1 second to show. Should be just over an hour.

If you see a name tagged to the structure, it's claimed, the timer is counting, whether it shows or not.

Thanks much.
Already see a few servers adding the extended timer now, Nice.

(Altho I wish it would display correctly, even with the 604800 still shows a -)

According to what I witnessed, the timer only shows when it's less than 5 days left

open server/sql/patch.sql with notepad++

Control+f search for "Building"

change the time on next to ownertimeout to 604800 (1week) >> `OwnerTimeout`=604800

1. Shut down server
2. Copy, then DELETE the file patch.sql in the server/SQL directory (might have to use their file explorer, depending on host)
3. Upload your new patch.sql
4. Start Server

In game timer should now say a - instead of counting down, others have said it will show after 5days, I personally dunno yet, I just did it.

Could be right, not 100% sure to be honest. I remember it being greater than 2 days showing, but less than 7.

It is correct the timer will only SHOW less then 5 days. If you set it for a week you will see "-" for the first 2 days then once you have less then 5 days you will start to see the timer correctly.

Server folder is located where ever your server is hosted, either from a commercial host or on your computer if you have it set up as a server host.

Possibly a "hidden file" then. A server admin may have to set permissions to see the hidden files, even for themselves.

I tried editing the claim times using the Navicat MySQL. I was able to connect to the server's DB and find the objects (houses, warehouses, gates). I typed in the new times in the appropriate slots. I then restarted the server but it seemed to have no effect. When I go back to the DB, the claim times have been reverted back to the original times.
Am I skipping a step? Something like "Apply" button, or Save & Close type of thing? After I type in the new times I just close out the whole thing and continue on, but I have no way of making sure that the new changes have been applied. Anyone familiar with the Navicat's process?

the patch.sql overrights some changes, including claim times.

try downloading that sql file, opening it with Notepad++
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

Shutdown server
Delete the file on the server (make a backup of the file first, incase you need it)
upload the changed patch.sql
start server.
login, unclaim/claim

As I understand downloading the SQL file , edit then uploading it - it sets ALL the timers to the one you entered in there. Where as I am trying to edit timers only for certain objects in the game, and as I understand the way to do it is through accessing the DB through Navicat or HeidiSQL programs.
Well my questions is how do I apply the changes after I edited the stuff in the DB using those programs? Are there any "Apply" buttons or do I just close the whole thing and restart the server?

Read the mod guide. As stated there:

How to adjust an object's Claim time
Spoiler

Also within the mod guide:

On the patch.sql file

In the server files there is the file sql/patch.sql. This file contains SQL queries for the official patches. The patch.sql file is executed every time your server is restarted, and may revert your mod's changes, for example Claim times.

In my experience this patch.sql file only needs to be run once after every patch, and can then be deleted. It is remade after every official patch. You could also edit patch.sql file to edit out the conflicting patch changes if you don't feel comfortable with deleting the entire file.

Clarification:

If within the patch.sql file there is a part of it that messes with the Claim Timers, your changes in the data tables will be overwritten by that patch file. Thus, you either need to modify both, or just remove the patch.sql file (save it somewhere else) and just change the data tables.
