Sir Azzerhoden Razeri, Chamberlain of His Majesty's Ducal Court, on behalf of His Majesty, Manus Dei, King of Hyperion, Duke of Wessex, Count of Elba, Grandmaster of the Solar Legion, and of His Excellency, The Reverend Father, Varrick ChaosWielder, Chancellor of His Majesty’s Ducal Court, offer greetings.

The Duchy of Wessex is a multi-game community which provides our members with an online gaming experience completely immersive and wholly unique. We draw our strength from a communal vision to create a guild structure that functions as a historical feudal government within the games we play. This structure not only imparts a technical and organizational efficiency that gives us an advantage in the competitive aspect of the games we engage in, but also to support something wholly contiguous with and supportive of the world we project ourselves into.

When you join the Duchy of Wessex it will be akin to stepping into an epic medieval movie. With the fully developed institutions of a government in place, our members are able to explore and pursue careers in various avenues of medieval kingdom life, and when war happens, it will feel like a true conflict between nations.

Guild Age: 16 Years, originating in Asheron's Call in '99

Our Style: "Practical" Roleplay, which is literally the choosing of a role or position that contributes to the in-game success of the Duchy, and strives for a drama free environment. "Theater" is secondary, optional, and never at the expense of another player.

We happily engage in a fight, but such fighting is part of our role-playing society, not for ‘griefing’ other players.

In anticipation of the upcoming improved claim system, the Duchy Of Wessex is moving hosts, probably this weekend. The new hosting provider will allow us to increase the over all performance (CPU, Memory), and will be located in more centralized location.

Now is a great time to join us and experience the richness of our guild.

Welcome! It is not as the new server launches tomorrow (Jan 30) at 18:00 GMT.

The current server was setup just to give some folks a chance to experiment. The new server will be focused on replicating the MMO settings and providing 'PvP opportunities'.

Features
  • Expanded Death Table – Player deaths and knock-outs are recorded in the database. We go one better by recording current guild information as well.
  • Killboard – What good is having an expanded death table if no one has access to the data within it? Our server runs periodic scripts to extract the information and presents it in an xml format that can be sourced for a truer accounting of a fights results. View the Results
  • No Judgement Hour – While we like the idea of players being able to kill indiscriminately, stealing from containers during this time frame without having locks or thieving skill involved is just…..wrong. Plus, being capped at 64 players introduces an artificial limit to attacking/defending positions. We want fun, not frustration.
  • Stump Removal – Happens automatically at server start up, but speed of uproot also increased. Trees under quality of 35 are also auto-removed at startup, improving performance.
  • Decay Enabled – We want folks to have guild claims. Building off of a claim will require increased maintenance. Decay rate is set to .25
