Does the current roadmap lead to final release?

Post by Bulldawg » 17 Jan 2015, 01:49

it wouldn't make sense if it did because there's nothing about it going to just a couple main servers and going full MMO in the roadmap.. And if they developers think they can just launch the game on MMO servers with no issues then they are mistaken there would be tons of bugs and issues. any ideas anyone? or could a dev respond to this?

It seems to me that you haven't realized that YO and the MMO are to different games. Which is, if so, quite astonishing.

The roadmap is for Life is Feudal, Your Own.
Not the MMO.

Actually, while they are both separate games, they share the same code base. So everything that goes in YO will also go into the MMO (well, almost everything, the 64 player limit obviously will not!).

That being said, if you look at the last item:
September 2015
Polishing and release
10%

We will be constantly fixing bugs and provide optimizations to our game during ALL development process. But usually it is a good practice to freeze feature implementation and spend some time on additional polishing of a product. That process should result in a Release state game that all of you should like even more! We are thrilled to reach that milestone!

Now, combine that with the estimated beta target date of Fall/Winter 2015 (see my sig), then that IS what the last entry is for. :)

Obviously all of that is subject to change. Software development is dynamic, and while you can use predictability models based on past issues, missed deadlines and such, the simple fact is that every large scale software development project has things that occur that cause delays.

Sadly, it appears my logic was a bit too hopeful.... :(

I am confused. Is there a specific thread that announces anything in relation to the MMO? I once posted on these forums long before LiF:YO was released. This game really interests me but when I saw they split the game into YO and the MMO I was actually super disappointed. By the websites description the MMO seems to be where I'd find the most enjoyment. So it would be much appreciated if anyone could notify me about the MMO. Any information would help, such as a clarification to as whether or not LiF YO 's progress will translate over to the MMO. Or just a simple ballpark of when the MMO aspect will be worked on.

There have been several posts stating that they have a common code base, as well as stated by Bobik in some of the videos on youtube.

Actually, YO is just there to raise fund to help the MMO progress. It's a great platform for testing new features and debug the game. I don't see why you were disappointed, YO is the best thing that could've happen to this game, it will fast forward the actual release of the MMO by having tons of people already playing the game in it's current state and giving feedback everyday on it's content.
