Devs why kill PVP??

Post by Bulldawg » 12 Mar 2015, 14:34

In the current game state PVP kinda SUCKS....
1if people have walls you cant get in so they are safe... there is no way to get on them because log ladders cant be built.
2. Cant steal anything because its claimed LAME
3. What judgement hour is going to do = NOTHING some people will be on and others wont people will complain it wont get implemented by server admins.
4. This isn't a very realistic feudal game lets be honest anything should go if it was realistic like honestly just because something is claimed doesn't mean raiders in real life didn't build ladders to get on walls.... Part of the game is its supposed to be harsh and suck when you die that's what makes it fun..
5. Devs didn't fully release guild system so we can declare war and at least get passed some of the issues and from what I understand from roadmap etc it wont be implemented till the MMO...

anyone else have an opinion particularly on the crappy judgement hour idea... Its honestly one of the stupidest things i have ever heard of

The judgment hour is a great idea and part of the game mechanics of the game which is not completed yet. Be patient and you will see that the project is really worthwhile. Me with friends does not interfere in the current environment and farming and looting enjoying all aspects of the game. And that's not finished is prescribed by rules by the administration server.

Dude, the game is in alpha. You'll be able to raid eventually. Just give people time to adjust.

You will be okay, if you can't raid everything under the sun just yet.

Have to agree with the OP. In this day and age, part of Alpha/Beta is generating interest in the game. Are we paying for development? If there is no interest, there is no dev money.
I can't fanboy away the fact PVP is completely broken and people are leaving servers and losing interest in the game. It was obvious there was not a lot of playability thought put into this last patch along with an obvious lack of basic testing.
Judgement hour is a horrible idea. Guild claim should be on doors and gates only.

yep. after 1700 hours i shut my server down and quit the game. such a shame. the only people that play this anymore are people who want farmville with better graphics. such a shame. pop is gone and probably not to return. other games already out now in a more complete state that offer much more than this. killing raiding has killed your game. is the regret setting in yet?
btw judgement hour is a retarded idea, nobody likes it. free raid free pvp full loot is what people want.

Any good server admin can mod his server to balance things out and still make it interesting... you just have to be creative and listen to the players... something you have failed to do...

If YOU have no interest than just leave and let the rant die... but for those who are willing to have the patience to let this game build up and see the actual release product, the server platform right now is highly moddable and managable and lots of stuff can be turned off or modded so the unfinished feature we have now don't bother too much...

Yeah, got tired of trying to make up for the developers short comings. also the people who are playing this game lately are so needy. I was a great admin but in order to make up for what this game is lacking is literally a full time job. and i'm sure it's not gonna get any better. 4 gig max. lol. wtf would they make a game in 2014 on an 32 bit engine. gotta be kidding me. but the good news is that others have taken this idea and put out a game that is fun. it's called Reign of Kings. lol. it has siege and guild system on it's first day in alpha. not to mention thirst, fall damage, and wow crouching. who would have thought. lol. the more i played lif the more i realized it's a fail. also save yourself the trouble . i won't be back to this forum.

Slightly off topic but, in short, This game needs more attention. I don't think there are enough people in the dev pool. There are a lot of decent programmers out there that would be happy to program and submit modules for testing and consideration. For free even. Collaborative development in a quasi open source venture.
The game is starting to come across as another kickstarter money grab.
My 2 cents anyway.

This is the basic issue with early acccess.

It gives the devs some money to work with, but it can also ruin a game's reputation before it's even half ready.

Sure it says alpha, and warns you, but most people are so dumb and or impatient these days that they gloss over that fact. People will try the game now, leave unhappy, and in a year when it's ready a lot of people will have a bad impression of the game, and not give it another chance, or they will have told their friends not to bother.

Having said that, it does seem like development is going slow even in alpha. We had a full month of no updates, and then when the update came, it wasn't really anything huge or addressing base game issues. Guild/social stuff is something that can wait until you have the base game working well IMO.

people want to get to loot. most players want to go loot group. in this game you can not really feudal life no loot. but the game has potential. be patient. as well as other close servers, raised another server dedicated to role-play :Yahoo!:

Yes this game seems to be turning towards endgame large scale PvP... so small scale "greifing like" raiding that we were seeing before the guild patch will be very restricted and unlikely to be successful but with the sieging mechanics to come and and the war declaration feature, you will be able to destroy your enemy but in a large scale event. And if that is well devellop by the team, you wont even need to "go raiding" because seiging will be such a blast and will be a thousand time more fun than the little skirmish you get during your small scale raids... I willing to wait and give a chance to see the finish product and see if the gamble is worth it...

Until then, mod your server and adapt... but plz stop the useless rants because it pointless as nobody doesn't even know what's really coming...

The game is dead is your opinion. I play on a very active server. The only problem we are having is the glitches. The gameplay is alot of fun especially for an alpha game. This game has tons of potential. There are many systems in place in existing games. It's not like everything has to be recreated as something new and different. I don't see a problem with taking basic ideas and implementing them into this game.

Also people need to quit asking for stupid crap. This is a game not real life. A game has to have mechanics that make the game work. If you want to play real life don't play a game and go live your life. I'm sorry your life sucks so bad you have to try to live your life here in a game.

Mickey, this game is supposed to be realistic. People are asking for realistic feature, and YOU should tolerate that those ideas are being discussed, because the realism is what is making this game different from other MMOs. beside, who are you to say such things when you arrived.. a month ago ?

I agree with you. They actually banned me from their face book for bringing it up so much, that PVP is useless if raiding has been taken out. What a load of care bear crying bullshit that they have to add a "judgement" hour so all the little care bears can get together and huddle in their town when they KNOW the bandits are coming. Let's look at history and see how unrealistic this game is because a) bandits are random and b) they steal your loot weather it be in your chicken coops or on your person. This game is not meant for PVPERS and if you call the devs out on it they will say "its a work in progress", more like a taking a step back. Over all I doubt there will be another game that allows you to interact with objects and steal from them like this, but they just had to remove it.

DRR JUDGEMENT HOUR *drools* stupidest shit ever. Oh and don't give me "it's alpha" bullshit. They added a system to break "small" scale raiding and they would have to remove the claim system completely to fix it and they do not indicate any idea of that. Damn I need to go to home depot and get a giant sword to stick in my land so nobody can drive on it let alone knock on the door/ring the door bell. Take that reality! My invisible claim system > you

I may have only arrived here a month ago but I have over 20 years of online gaming experience. You can try to add too much realism so that the game mechanics are unrealistic for a game. I've also seen enough games to know that the majority of the players are pve players and the majority of the biggest complainers are pvp players. The game has to have a balance between the two groups and no MMO can survive without both.

I've also beta tested enough games to realize that if I don't share my opinions then my opinions are not heard. Whether you like them or not I have every right to post as the next guy. I intend to comment on every thread that I have an opinion on the topic being discussed. I will be civil in my replies and I don't think I have been offensive thus far. I want the game molded into something I will enjoy as much as every other poster on here posting their ideas :Yahoo!:

There is an easy way to solve the PvE vs PvP problem and that is simply adding different types of servers. Most MMOs do that. Problem solved

BTW I PvP myself. I just prefer to do it when I know I'm facing other PvP players such as on a battlefield. Otherwise it gets quite boring going around ganking people who don't know how to pvp. If that's your cup of tea then have at it. I prefer to see a pvp system that avoids driving away a good majority of the player base who will be playing this game for the crafting.

You're right facing people who know how to fight is nice. I fought people and made them quit because I am much more skilled at mount and blade style fighting than anyone I ran into. I hope we can see a PVP Server with no Claim system because as you said, there seem to be more PVERS in a non fantasy game non the less.

There won't be multiple server types for MMO. If the carebears want protection, they will have to raise their own army of PvPers, learn PvP, or pay tribute to a more powerful faction for protection. This is how it will work, and it is very good like that. Plus, what's the point of crafting if the items are not used ? :D

Also, you said you haven't been offensive at all. May I remind you of the "People need to quit asking for stupid crap" you posted earlier ?

If people want to click on the same buttons all day just to craft, worry not about their protection, well they should not cry if people just come and take their stuff.. PvP will make LiF's world living, and much more interesting politically speaking. But having PvP doesn't mean there won't be trade, peaceful construction.. but it is the sandboxyness of the game which makes its charm. having as much years as you want of experience in online gaming means little here, because this game is unique and WANTS to be groundbreaking.

PvE doesn't have to have npcs. There are animals and E=environment which can mean the crafting end of the game.

Just because you say that is how the game will be doesn't it make it so. Are you a DEV? It's a long way from alpha to finished MMO. Alot can change in that amount of time. A very large portion of this game is crafting. That draws a certain type of person to the game. Remove them and we will see how the game fairs afterwards.

You think playing a pvp game makes the game groundbreaking? Unique? Ultima Online had pvp 24/7 for the first 2 years it was live. Then their player base complained enough and they finally added Trammel. Why do you think almost every MMO out there has pvp protection? Do you see WOW still going after years of being on the market? I see all these posts about how the game will fold if pvp is not 24/7. What happened to the games that don't have that? They seem to be doing fine. Name a successful MMO that has open pvp 24/7.
