I got this game a few days back, I havem't been able to get on a server the whole time, I have tried since I got it 30+ mins atleast each time & no error so I am stumped...To me it looks like it is setting up, but apparently it isn't... Please, I watched a vid, of LiF & it is the only game that has excited me just from a vid.

It could take longer to get on some server, the client has to download all that has changed on the server, all the buildings, every single bit of dirt that has been moved, all the trees that have been chopped down or that have grown, and the worst, all the mined tunnels.
you can bring up the console (ctrl + ~) and see what is goin on,

It says some GUI stuff & it ends with false... It acts like stuff is downloading, but it says nothing about downloading, so I am not sure...

i have read in 2 places that if you got the game around friday, there is an error with the download... some file were not included so it might not work properly...
There is not fix i have seen, but maybe verify integrity of game cache and see if that might fix the problem,

Ok, so it should get the missing/messed up files if I do a int. scan... Or should I delete the whole folder & download the game again??

I ended up deleting the folder, still no go & the confusing part is tried a public server bam right on... I get this...

Check to see if your firewall is blocking the game/ connection.

I don't think it is, I set it to game mode (accept everything) & it still does that, but I will double check... Are their any settings I need to change to get onto a private server? The server is not using another port then the public was...

Oh, are you trying to connect to a server that you have created via the create worl option in the client??

if u are you will only be able to connect to it, when the servers initialization is complete, this only happens when it says something like, in green
"Connect to Steam, and your steamID is displayed too."

if you use default settings to start your server, ports 28000 to 28002 needs to be opened and routed to you the computer.

No, trying to connect to someone else’s, but thanks for the port info... When I type un the name of it it is just xxxxxx & no colon XX so that is the same as joining a pub. server right? Apparently it must be on another port, it won't let me in while a public one will... is there a util, that can see what is going on network wise with LiF? I have Wireshark, but that may be a bit complicated... I shut down the firewall, still no go, I heard it needs to download info from the server, but it would say if it was right?

Also check your Antivirus, my Antivirus sometimes deletes files related to games.
