Voted features : what's the limit on the "game changing" ?

Post by Hoshiqua » 28 Jun 2015, 12:54

Hey !

Just a simple question..
let me explain something :

I have created a thread on the suggestions page, which is called "Remove the skill tree", which can be found here : http://lifeisfeudal.com/Discussions/que ... skill-tree

Basically, the idea is to remove the logic of 'skill lines', so anyone can increase any skills at any time, as long as there is the needed ressources available, and of course, the thread also contains a few ideas, more exactly tweaks the game would then need in order to keep it balanced (for example, lower the skill cap, as to not allow players to do too much things at once, since no skillpoints would be spent on skills just to unlock others).

This idea, I think, would make the game (especially the early game), a lot more enjoyable, and would bring more player interaction, and that is why I didn't fear posting it.

Now, it has racked up over 50 votes, which places it amongst the most voted features. But it is very strongly game changing, it goes against one of the huge logics of this game. Yet, it would be really easy to implements : Myself knows how to do it, just as a modder ! :D

So, here is my question ; let's consider that this is the most voted features of all, would you still bow down to what the players want and implement it, even if it changes stuff so much ? I started replying often to people critizicing / praising the idea, and I'm getting a lot of votes, so that scenario could really happen. But I need to know now if the time I spend doing that, and explaining the idea to other players (of my guild for example) is worth it.

Sorry for the wall'o text :3

imo, they keep the last decision... of course, this seems obvious... they said that they would add the most voted feature, as a change is not really a feature, they should don't care about theses whines... I agree with the fact skill trees may be changed, equilibrates or giving more freedom with some restrictions (explicit or not... no one want to see plate armor mounted archers... LEL), putting it invisible or something else... making progression far way slower... dunno what would be the best...

but, with their little secret they sometimes show us, I trust them and I'm sure they've got a lot of good ideas to increase the gameplay enjoyment... (just the new graphics just hyped me so much...)

This thread is not to discuss about this particular idea. Beside, this is not a whine, but a suggestion.. please try to be a nice person, would ya ? Just read the thing before commenting it, also. I talk about ""OP"" combos in the thread.

So, what you think is, they will not care about changes but will care abou new stuff ? Fair enough. But what's the limit between a change and a 'new' thing ? I mean, pretty much anything you'll add to LiF will change other things !

i read it and my whole message isn't about your idea and i don't understand how you felt that i'm rude in it... in fact, you are waiting for a dev answer...

i'm not saying they won't care about a change rather than a feature, they just have the last decision, we, for now, don't know what they'll put in the game or change from the voting page...
we just know they already are working on the voted features (10% in the roadmap)

a feature is something totally new that it'll be added to the game, a change... it's a change... something already here... we don't know if they care about changes community whines, we don't know if they wish to change what is already done...
even if a feature (for example boats) change the way how the game feelings are, it's not a change, but a feature... changing, deleting the skill tree is a change... see ?

so... the best thing would be asking them directly (twitter/facebook or here but they don't often answer :s) (and i'd like they answer more often, i'm not blaming you about anything... even if you take it rude... )

Yea I really hope they get rid of the skill tree or do something different, I don't like the way it forces you to do things you don't want to do just to learn what you do want to

Again, this thread is not to discuss the idea itself. I just took it as an example.. I'd just like an answer from someone who can give one, or your thoughts about the question I ask in the title ;)
