Ok, the simple thing first: Archery has been bugged/nerfed extremely hard, a nerf was necessary but this patch pretty much destroyed archery. Before the patch Bows had ridiculous ranges and could hit people that were barely visible (over 50 squares away). Now with the patch even the longbow can barely shoot 5 squares. But to be honest Bows were so broken before that I am totally fine with them being of the picture.
Next, War Cries & Shield Bash:
Shield Bash is an extremely strong ability since it knocks down people 100% of the time when it hits and it's range is quite long. Compared to that the "Pounce" ability of 2-Handed Axes and Polearms is very weak since it ONLY works on opponents who have a shield AND are actively blocking with it. So knocking people down with a pounce is almost impossible and extremely weak compared to the 100% knock down without additional requirements (ie active blocking of the opponent) from shield bash.
If Shield Bash was extremely strong before the patch, the "Coward" War Cry is just plain broken. It enables the same knock down as the Shield Bash but at a very long range. And unlike the skill description which makes it sound that tripping is very rare, it actually happens 100% of the time when you move.
Also an additional note: The REAL problem with knock downs is that ARMORS are so ridiculously weak, that IF you get knocked down you are 100% dead even in full plate. You have 1-handed swords or axes that have almost the same damage modifier as many 2 handed weapons. The down side should be the low range of 1 handers, but with the long range of shield bash, their short range is irrelevant since you can just shield bash at about the same range as a 2 handed weapon and then move in for the kill.

So in summary what needs to happen is the following:
- Bows need to be balanced not by extremely reducing their range (although a slight range nerf is ok), but by DRASTICALLY reducing their damage. Divide the damage by 5 or more.
- Shield Bash needs to be nerfed by either reducing the range to make it lower than 1-handed weapons OR make it conditional on the opponent blocking, just like the "pounce" ability of 2handed axes and polearms.
- The "Coward" War Cry needs to have the chance of tripping extremely reduced. The main use of the cry should be reducing accuracy of ranged weapons, the trip should only be a VERY rare bonus, since it basically means the person targeted is dead.
- Armors, especially the heavy ones that slow you down a lot, need to have their defensive stats buffed by a lot. For many weapons it now makes no difference if you are in full plate or naked.
