Faith & Deities On the Island of Nelumbra the gods are known to be able to cross the divide through the mists to interact with their faithful. The deities may communicate through visions, cryptic whispers, or dreams to their faithful. The first character to achieve status of pope for each deity will be capable of communicating directly with the deity in its physical form.
Role playing prayers, sacrifices, group rituals, and faithful/faithless acts toward a deity can result in a positive or negative impact on the faithful, as agreed on by the council of the gods.
The deities of Nelumbra are as follows:
Elimine, Goddess of Nature Elimine is the Goddess of Nature and all natural things. Animals, plants, forests, crops, and anything that comes from the Earth is attributed to her good will and blessings. She is the favored Goddess of farmers and hunters, and a shrine to her can be found in most rural homesteads. She is often depicted as a large white doe or graceful, veiled woman with elfin features.
Terras, God of Stone Terras is the God of Stone and of all things within the Earth. Quarries, tunnels, and mines all receive his blessing before being constructed, for it is the strength of Terras that holds the earth over your head and keeps the dirt firm below your feet. Stone carvers, smiths, carpenters, and laborers give their praise to Terras to receive his strength and sturdiness in their craft. Terras is typically depicted as a massive muscular man, with all manner of tools strapped across his back and hung at his waist.
Paravan, God of WarParavan is the God of War and Combat, and is prayed to before every armed struggle, no matter how small. From farm skirmishes to grand campaigns, Paravan guides the swords of the righteous and strengthens the shields of the faithful. He is depicted as a large solider in full plate armor, with a Zweihander and shield across his back and twin daggers at his hips. Unlike the other dieties, no true temples exist to Paravan. Instead, sacrifices are made in his honor to receive his blessing before combat. His demeanor is typically serious and stern.
Erenyx, Goddess of Shadows Erenyx is the twin-sister of Kelegral, and the Goddess of Shadows and Trickery. Typically, she is worshiped by spies, thieves, and anyone with great secrets or who require stealth. Prayers to Erenyx are said in hushed tones and as needed. Typically, worship of her is hidden from view, as Acolytes of Erenyx have been known to operate as assassins. Those who openly worship Erenyx are met with disdain and wariness, for disciples of her rarely are up to anything good. She is depicted as a slender woman in a pitch black cloak which covers all of her body. Her face is hidden in the shadows of the hood, except for two yellow eyes that leer from within the depths of the cloak. She is light of heart and fond of tricks, no matter the outcome o24harm they may do.
Kelegral, God of Death Kelegral is the twin-brother of Erenyx, and God of Death and the Afterlife. He has no depiction and is not openly worshiped; only one shrine is known to exist to Kelegral, and it is rumored to lead to the seat of the Gods themselves. Every person meets Kelegral in the end, and his greed to harvest the souls of every person is blamed for all premature and accidental deaths. The Hands of Kelegral are in everything and his eyes are everywhere, watching and waiting for the chance to end a life. He does not kill outright, but is the one who sends the bear to maul the villager, or provokes the man into killing. Those who openly worship Kelegral are rumored to offer human sacrifices to gain his favor, and his dark blessings are said to give people dark magic powers.
