How will multiplayer work?

Hi, wondering how multiplayer will work, will people be able to rent their own servers or will it just be the devs whom run the servers, because i'd hate for this to become like wurm which I mean the world will get clutterd with ruins of residences which people only log in for a day then never play again.
I hope you have a way to counter this.

Houses left in the open will decay very fast if not maintained. Players who log out and never come back will have their land claim removed after a time.

So it does address the left over new player shack syndrome.

There is one Server atm with a Central City in the middle.

Personal claim decays depending on it's size. If you don't perform actions to update it (sarcifice gold or crafts if I am not mistaken). I suppose it may take a pair of weeks or a month for a claim to decay.
And buildings without claim decay in 2 days. And mineshaft collapses in 2 days without mine supports. Mine supports collapse in about a month without repairs.
