Putting the skill in combat...

Post by Eldubb » 13 Dec 2014, 07:56

I just wanted some experienced players to tell me how the skill applies in fighting when there is no manual/directional blocking? I came from games like War of the Roses/Vikings etc so i was hoping this would be the same but when I hopped on for the first time last night I noticed there was just a block button - no skill required.

So my question is how does a skilled player kill another skilled player, both with lets say 2 handed swords - in this game currently? Cuz it looks like its a mash of swinging and resting with some running before a swing for more power.

As I have witnessed it is really hard to parry anything, and when you do you get a small reduction of the damage.
With a shield it is possible to get all the damage into it but it still has flaws.

Combat mechanics is reworked from time to time to build some kind of balance. I belive parrying and other specific actions from the combat systems will be worked on in later patches.
