PVP / player combate system - can someone explain

Post by Lonewolf76 » 17 Aug 2015, 20:43

Hey all, looking at joining the game. I'm curious how the player vs player works. I'm reading all these different posts about alignment changes based upon actually killing someone vs. knocking them unconscious. Some of the comments i read are older so i have no idea what the current game is like.

Sounds like the game is not built for a bunch of PVP but i still would like to understand how it works.

I plan on building a small community with some friends but want to understand if my village can be raided. If i can raid other villages etc.

Regards!

You can attack anyone, anywhere and loot everything they wear and carry.

There is an alignment system in the game. It goes from -50 to 50. If you go into negative alignment there are ways to work your way back up. EXCEPT if you go from -49 to -50, then there is no way back.

If you assault someone you will lose alignment, the penalty gets heavier if you kill the player.
A player can always surrender (he will fall to his knees) and you can access his inventory without killing him. Or you can knock him out (he is incapacitated but gets back up after some time) with blunt weapons or low level weapons. You will lose less alignment this way.

If your alignment is negative you can be killed by anyone without penalty. You will also lose more skill levels upon death. At some point the penalties are supposed to be really heavy, so only the most fierce warriors can truely thrive by being a criminal. Random thieves will end up getting killed often and will lose too many skill levels to keep doing it.

You can raise your alignment back to positive through religion. (prayer or blessings from the Piety skill tree)
You can also kill "evil" players. Not sure about this one I never really went in negative.

Now, you can claim an area for yourself, or for your guild. Claimed areas allow you to store your items safely, nobody can steal them.
In the future it will be possible to lay siege to claimed areas to pillage or even conquer them. The details on this are still a bit blurry since it's all Work In Progress.
