My suggestion is simple, Rework the current combat system to be more reminiscent of Mount and Blade.
The current combat system we have is horrendous, You cannot attack fluently or with any amount of accuracy. Lets say you want to do an overhead, Easy enough right? Wrong.
You must look up far enough that you can reliably have enough time to click once you begin to bring your aim back down again in order to turn the attack into the overhead you desire. If you click to soon it becomes a stab, To late and your knocking your opponent with your elbows.
The same with the Slashes, You have to look far to the direction you intend the attack to come from and you then bring your aim back in towards your opponent clicking as you do so. It just feels unnatural.
Now i'm aware that my two examples are not doing justice to the point i'm trying to convey, Perhaps the solution i'm suggesting would allow for a better understanding.
I propose that LIF MMO adopts Mount and Blades Load and Release system.
Do you want to load up a stab? Just make a slight twitch of your mouse down with a click and hold. There your loaded up with a stab.
Instant Overhead? Slight twitch up with a click and release, Boom you have an overhead.
Now do not get me wrong, All thou i would like to see an increase in the speed of combat i'm not suggesting we make this a Mount and Blade clone with the swirling and generally weightless combat. I merely want a less convoluted system.
I can't be the only one who feels like its an 80/20 chance of getting the intended attack, I appreciate combat ceilings but this is entirely different. The ability to translate intent should not be so difficult and so inefficient that it makes fights into opponents circling one another tweaking out till they load up there desired attack then charging in and out only to repeat.
Any thoughts would be appreciated, I really want this discussion to happen.
