I wasnt a huge fan of the Epeland server when I first heard of it, but I wasn't opposed to it either. Then I saw a post about winning a free ticket to the mainland of this new server. I figured what the hell, a ticket is a ticket. I submitted a request and was fortunate enough to get a ticket. The reasoning behind the ticket giveaway seemed clear, give some people what they wanted, ensure the population wasn't dead upon arrival, and to promote the new server.
When I received my new ticket, I noticed it was just a new ticket. No strings attached, I could have used it to have gone anywhere. But I felt a obligation to use it for what it was given for. I'm happy I did. I'm a North American playing on the Eu-Epeland server and having a decent time with my new guild. We are close to at least 2 other guilds, walking distance.
Sad thing though is the typical server population is usually between 150-250. Where are all those people who got tickets? Did they keep them and use them elsewhere? Could there have been a better way to do this? I don't know. I know at least one person who tried to use their YO ticket to come to Epeland and goofed and is stuck on the overcrowded Avalon server.
