I was having the exact same issue, I have since been told to uninstall Raptr from my PC as i am using a AND GPU. This has fixed the problem!

No not same issue after patch, now it causes the black screen at startup where you only get audio.

Sorry for late response, I had uninstalled it and then my son started playing the game and got hte black screen, we found it was the Raptr

Try disabling steam overlay.
