New here, guilds please read and inform me!

Post by Thawne » 25 Oct 2017, 18:00

I started playing LiF MMO as of around 1 week ago. I have not followed the game much before (read some reviews of YO around 2 years ago) so I am busy learning mechanics and trying to understand where I will fit into a game like this. Anyway, my questions:

1. Who are the strongest guilds? (size, organization, understanding of game mechanics, experience etc.)

2. Of guilds from section 1, which are regarded as more peaceful or "fair play" and which are generally considered "griefer" types?

Example: I have played lots of pvp games and would define going to war against another large faction due to skirmishes or due to needed resources as fair (particularly after trying to address those issues politically and being ignored) . I would describe "griefer" type guilds as those attacking solo, small group, generally picking on much weaker groups where winning is automatic. Also small groups who attack solo players or new players are grieferish to me. It's not that I consider people that do this to be bad people, but this gameplay bores me as its not competitive at all imo. I hope this sounds relatively consistent. No need to preach at me about what you consider to be fair play, I just told you a definition so you can answer the question, the rest is semantics.

3. Of guilds or alliances from section 1 or 2, which are interested in an a hardcore crafter (me) with a lot of experience crafting in MMO's? I am not afraid to pvp but spend most of my time economically manipulating games, or brute forcing through crafting. For any of those recruiting, would you be willing to accept me as a "vassal" who pays donation, exclusively trades with you, etc. but doesn't immediately join the guild?

I am interested in playing the game for awhile solo before eventually putting all my work towards a guild. I just play games that way and like to max all skills across characters, find efficient methods, and then move up to joining a large guild when solo boredom sets in.

I will run 2-4 accounts and be maxing all crafts on my own. I am aware of the grind this will be, I am more than up for it. I will initially be maxing farming/nature/hunting across 2 accounts. Then I will move on to maxing all others on alts.

I believe I would be a worthy vassal or citizen in a larger alliance. In most MMO's I have played (Archeage for example) I can produce solo equivalent to 5-20 players. Please do not take any part of this as bragging (it's a fricking game, there is nothing within it to boast about imo) but just informing so as to find a good match (other hardcore, fairplay types). Part of this is crafting experience, spreadsheets, and a willingness to grind crafting without burnout. As I said before I'm not a total carebear but will spend my initial time in game crafting and supplying.

Thanks for reading my rather lengthy post, I'm hoping someone trudged through it to give me some good information! Cheers!

hey Thawne,

I generally think any advice you get from members of the community will have their own biased involved. Guilds that re praised or scorned are always viewed from a biased interaction. No guild's are saints and not all are sinners. There are several large factions in the game and there are both NA and EU servers. Best bet to find one is to look on the recruitment pages. Many are similar in structure but all have unique cultures within them. Some are very open and accept many types of players while others are very limited. When looking for a guild I would look at a few criteria that seem to differentiate guilds:
1. EU or NA?
2. More pvp or crafting?
3. Role playing or non- role playing
4. Large community or small community
5. level of elitism in player (i.e. age, hours played, quality of pvp)
6. atmosphere ( family oriented, young adults, mature adults)

those 6 criteria seem to be unique enough for you to find a guild that will meet your needs. Hope that helps. Best of luck in your search and make sure to check out Vanirs Krigsmen if your looking for a Mature PVP oriented guild :D

I will be playing in NA. I don't mind playing in EU if it ended up being my only option (population issues possibly) but I live in NA so it would be best for me to play here.

this is NOT a solo friendly game. sure you can put down a personal monument but your only going to fit so much on it a small shack and some storage space. some guild can come by a put down a guild monument and take all your hard work from you also you lose skill points when you die

I will echo what has already been posted. Sound advise that you should consider with deep thought.

Which is why I'm asking to be part of an alliance. I'm by no means stubborn, but due to my more limited time to play the game in beta and inability to test everything I will prefer to play solo for a few weeks at launch. By that I mean, in the vicinity of an alliance's keep. To be honest, solo is not viable in the long run - but for that matter when we have thousands or even hundreds of players on small guilds will be equally crushed. Alliances will be the key to avoiding it all just being 3-4 mega guilds and I am hoping this works out.

Essentially you are asking to play and use resources needed by a larger entity without offering anything unique in return. By unique I mean something that cannot be generated by a member who is already part of the guild.

The Danovians would be interested in talking terms with you, Thawne. We're a fairplay organization that follows a Peacekeeper storyline, and happily welcome semi independent private claims to play within our circle of influence.

Send me a friend request at [DGN] Johnny on steam and we'll give it a chat.
