DEATH OF THE GAME BEFORE IT STARTS

Post by Uilliam666 » 29 Nov 2017, 20:39

The copper coin will be the death of this game. The fact that I need to travel for over an hour to a trade post, which is controlled by these pay to win mega guilds, just to build a small house in the middle of the desert far far outside their lands, makes this game entirely unenjoyable.

12 hours in and ive been to 3 tradeing posts, all of which i was told i had to subscribe to a third party website in order to not be killed while trying to get my copper coin. And we are expected to do this regularly or have all our stuff burn down.

I bought Life is Feudal, YO on day one of early access, it had so much potential. And you guys sold it all to these guilds that were able to take over the entire game before it is even open to the public.

I honestly agree with this, the fact small personal claims are so hard to maintain and some of the weird gimmicks with them is just painful and is already forcing small groups to either give up or join a guild which isn't really all that fun to be honest.

You're making way too much sense.

The devs behind Darkfall didn't listen to common sense either, and we can see what happened to that game. Life is Feudal MMO is just something to do until a better game comes out (I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about).

This game is not inviting to new players. The grind is as stupid as Darkfall. What happens? Players with tons of free-time and guilds end up dominating. New players leave the game, write bad reviews, the game world dies, and a small group of fanboys, griefers, bullies and other scum cheer on the "wisdom" of the devs...all while the company loses money.

Let's be clear: This is a game where a grown man can't figure out how to plant a tree. Google Image Search: children planting trees.

It's a grinding joke, and the devs are incompetent enough to think it's an attractive model. Attractive to who? A very, very, very small group of gamers.

Let me break it down to you all Barney style.

It is the year 1030, most people in 1030 couldnt even read, let alone understood how to plant trees. People in 1030 thought that bathing would lead to disease and that cats were the tool of the devil. People thought that women shouldnt be aloud to do art because it would be to complicated for them, and men acted in a womans role because it wasnt a job for a woman, she couldnt understand it.

In 1030 AD, people thought the Norse were daemons sent from hell to punish them for being sinners.

So... yeah in this game you need to learn how to plant trees. And it isnt that hard to get to that point. About the same amount of time in real life to learn how to pick a sprout and replant it.

Do you know how to pick a sprout off of a live tree and plant it so it can grow? Do you even know what a tree sprout looks like? Can you even tell me the difference between a white oak and a live oak?

I'm really starting to think you're just a little kid, or one of the most uneducated people on the planet.

Agriculture was invented somewhere between 10,000 - 12,000 BC.

Also, trying to argue that the game is somehow being realistic is simply absurd as there are virtually no elements of the game that are realistic.

For example:

  • Fishing burns a lot of stamina. In real life fishing is one of the most relaxing things you can do.
  • Throughout the day, your character has to eat enough to food to choke a full grown elephant; he consumes plate after plate of food, when the hardest working men in the world only need 5,000 calories.
  • Herb combinations are magically specific to your character. In the real world, herbalists, alchemists, pharmacists and chemists can share recipes with each other and the effects are predictable in most humans.
  • Planting anything is a ridiculously complex skill. In the real world children can be taught to farm, garden, identify plants, etc., very quickly.
  • Three full grown men with hatchets can't kill a wolf. In real life men have killed wolves with their bare hands. Recently in Russia an old woman killed a wolf with an ax.
  • Your character will starve to death and refuse to consume uncooked food, even as his life dwindles from him. In real life human beings will eat damn near anything (even boiled shoe leather, or human flesh) to survive.

The fact is, you're just a fanboy, so no matter what the facts are, you'll come up with some empty retort to protect your beloved game. Once again, people like you do more harm than good, because the only thing that makes a better product is honest criticism.

So you are reduced to insults, good job.

I agree some things are not realistic at all, like the food issue. But if we had 100% realism you wouldnt play it. Because a new character would start as a baby, and have to spend years learning how to do the most basic things like walking. And if or when you die because a tree fell on you, or a snake bit you, or lightning struck you, or someone killed you. You are done, no starting over no nothing.

If this were realistic, if you were to get in a fight, and got hurt you would have to worry about infection. Wounds would take weeks if not months to heal, if at all.

I'm not asking for a simulation, and the other people who are making complaints aren't either. The problem is the absurdity, the grind, the unfriendly community, the unwelcoming grid, the non-existent tech support, the paying for a game that doesn't even launch, watching progress bar for hours on end while you click the same button over and over and over again.

I purchase LiF:YO and LiF:MMO because I like the foundational ideas of the game, but there are a mountain of elements that need to be ironed out.

All I'm seeing is that the devs haven't learned from Darkfall's mistakes. There's an absurd grind, it's open season on noobs and there is no recourse. A group of noobs are weak and pathetic until they grind and grind and grind. That is Darkfall, and guess what? Darkfall is a gigantic failure.

In any case, my guild left the game tonight. The game isn't fun. It's a frustrating job, and we already have jobs. Tech support never responded to those of us who had issues. We didn't get our premium bonuses. The community isn't friendly.

This "game" is for masochists. There are people who "enjoy the grind" (i.e., enjoy a painfully boring experience). There are people who like a world where bullies get to rule.

This game is going to tank on Steam. It is only loved by an insignificant percentage of the gaming population, and only a small fraction have the time (and the desire) to grind away for hours while getting killed by wolves, griefers, scumbags and others.

Quick question.

Who was your guild, and how many active players were in it? What server were you on?

Because I am betting you were in a smaller guild, of less than 20 active players, with a few alts. Trying to grind everything out yourselves and build an impressive castle, that you had high hopes for.

Not trying to insult you just trying to get a point across.
