Steams says the download to install is 6Gb. Since last night my metered wifi box has gone from 23Gb monthly usage to 36Gb. And the installer is still downloading. Seems to me that patches are not rolled into the install, rather there is a base game and subsequent patches are downloaded and installed ON TOP.
Maybe there is a good technical reason why this is done and I'd love to hear it. Normally software is updated before distribution. This seems just lazy and wasteful. Hope I'm wrong, but post if you know better, thx.

OK after 24 hours and 18Gb downloaded and only on 18/42 "parts" I gave up and simply copied my PC installation folder over to my new laptop. Took <10 minutes. Worked just fine, next to nothing to download and apart from changing resolution in prefs.cs, it ran. Feel stoopid not trying that first. How first time users cope, I guess they have fat pipes.
