Tweaked some container sizes to be more useful ?

Post by Eve » 15 Nov 2014, 12:57

Ok, so you've increased the size of "some" containers, but still not enough...

The chest while increased to 250 from 100 is slightly better, but still no where near enough. A Cart, which is about half the size holds 500, which makes chests/crates completely useless.
Personally I think it would make more sence to make the non-transportable type containers hold alot more than the carts.

And please fix the useless 600 capacity small warehouse, which is even more ridiculous now that a trader cart can hold twice that much...

Wheelbarrow, in order to be useful should be able to hold more than you can carry in your own personal inventory...

The item images should be 20x smaller or just make it a list kinda like how coops/barns are... Esp with things like straw, which the image takes up like 1/6th the entire space of the entire inventory screen...

This is the undoubtedly the worst inventory management system I have ever seen...

I agree with the non moveable being able to hold more than the moveable items.
The small warehouse needs to be about 2.5-3k of storage to make it reasonable.

As far as the inventory goes - tabs or separate pages would be good, ie: Raw materials, Refined materials, Weapons, Armours, Food etc etc

Haven't seen much then, I figure.

While I agree the Patch seemed to have turned out somewhat unhappy, we don't know the circumstances under which it has been released. Might be they intended for it to be unpolished so that we get a better chance at producing bugs and thus getting to the core of problems.

To the problem at hand tho, seeing the overall state of the patch I'd assume they focused on the furniture container side of things, rather than increasing warehouses aswell, to counter the lootbag-loss for now and to further evaluate the final space reasonable for the individual needs.

I don't want to see any changes to the actual inventory. I'd prefer that you could add "Bags in Bags" like in Ultima Online, to individually sort your stuff. Though, thats just for Equipment, maybe tools and weapons, smaller stuff. I actually like to be forced to think about where to put my stuff before I go on stockpiling millions of iron somewhere. Haven't got the storageroom? Build it, then.

The inventory-system is by far not finished AND i really love the grid-free, list-free system like in ultima online or darkfall online.

There are several containers in the database which you can not craft yet but this shows that there will be more smaller containers where you can store stuff in containers to have a more organized warehouse etc.

The stuff i found in the database looks like this:

Backpack 200 capacity
Sack 100
Bag 50
Pouch 10

Yea, the capacity looks a bit off compared to furniture and stuff like this, but as i said, not craftable so not finished yet BUT planned i guess.

The backpack, at least, works perfectly. You can spawn them in as a GM.

Yes, all the container's seem to work properly...
They should add the recipes for these to help with inventory management.

The main issue I have is with the larger items like straw, leather, and every other item that takes up 1/8th of the entire window being the most noticable... The size of these objects are just way too large for the current inventory system... Everything needs to be a little smaller.

And yes, although there are items like backpacks, sacks, etc... None of these are large enough to manage things like ore which does fit into a warehouse but the window size of the warehouse is just too small to accomodate 10000 stones worth of items without items stacking on top of each other...

More ideal sizes would be something like...

Crate = 500
Barrel = 800-1000?
Chest = 1500-2000?

Wheelbarrow = 500
Cart = 1000
Trader Cart = 2000+

Small Warehouse = 10000+
Large Warehouse = 20000+

Wardrobe is fine as is since you should only be storing clothes in them anyways...

I personally dont want to make 500 barrels and chest to store things in, and it would help save memory to allow for more storage if necessary... Currently I am making 1-2 barrels for each individual item in game and that is a bit ridiculous...
