Feedback after 40hours of gameplay

Post by Sunshadow » 17 Feb 2015, 13:27

Hi!

Here's my feedback after many hours of gameplay. I'm sure I haven't seen much of the really great game, but here are my suggestions:

- Terraforming should be possible from the observe view
- sometimes it's hard, to find the right square on the ground (e.g. harvesting)
- Don't like herbalism. It's too random and nearly impossible to get flux
- The progression bar of all actions is too slow. It should be possible to speed it up. Nothing is more boring than watching a progress bar (better decrease loot for balance)
- planned skillcap of 600 seems to be a bit too low for one char (I know, the concept will be to purchase many other slots, but maybe an upgrade option to increase the skillcap would be nice)
- Prospecting and digging for ore is currently no fun. Maybe an raw X,Y,Z value could be displayed
- Animations should be smoother
- tunnel entrance look terrible compared to the rest

Feature suggestions for smaller private servers:
If you play with only 8 people some hours in the evening (4vs4), some automated things would be nice.

I just want to add my +1 that doing things is WAY too slow. I love the concept behind this game, but I am completely unwilling to play it if half my gaming experience is a progress bar.
I understand that things need to take time for some realism, but you have to balance that with the fun aspect. The majority of the time spent crafting should be thinking creatively, not watching progress bars.
Minecraft takes a long time to accomplish great things in survival mode, but manages to do it without any progress bars and without being boring.
The player needs to feel engaged in the harvesting, and crafting aspects of the game. The way it is now detaches us and removes the feeling of immersion.

Just getting the depth (based on the stratum) would be enough. The rest you can figure out by multiple surveys of varying radii.

it seems that you have a huge lack of rigor though...
getting a good amount of plants : ~2hrs
finding 11 flux plants : ~30min

... tadaa, 2h30 for getting all flux you can... not random at all when you found all naphta + flux effects... pretty simple...
